Vivel Face Wash & Scrub

ITC has already grabbed our attention us with its array of soaps, shampoos and what-not that were launched one after the other in quick succession. I loved their gel bathing bars and liked their luxury crème soaps. Their shampoos were quite disappointing…I found them too drying. Their conditioner was fine…not bad but not too great either. In a short span of time they entered the personal care segment and launched brands like Essenza di Wills, Fiama di Wills, Vivel and Superia with a host of products under each category.

My experience with Vivel Active essentials 3in1 Face Wash + Scrub:

The face wash is transparent with teeny tiny blue and white beads. It has a fresh aqua fragrance that I really like. The consistency is a wee bit runny and this makes it easy to spread; plus you need very little product per use.

The exfoliating beads are not abrasive but they are good enough to mildly exfoliate skin. Even with daily use, it did not make my acne-prone skin break out. It removes all traces of dirt and grease and leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and fresh. It does not dry out the skin nor does it make skin overly greasy after use.

This face wash is perfect for use all year round and will easily suit all skin types.

My experience with Vivel  Active Essentials Purifying Face Wash:

This face wash is transparent and has a refreshing lemon fragrance that is not overpowering. It spreads easily but takes a long time to wash off. I feel the need to keep washing my face with water over and over agaonto remove the slippery feel of the face wash. It does not leave any residue but since this is designed for oily skin, I wish it would rinse off cleaner and leave skin matte. It does not dry out the skin and it leaves skin feeling soft and clean.

It showed absolutely no effect on pimples. It neither reduced existing acne nor did it prevent new ones from cropping up. Although it removes oil it does not control sebum production. It’s a very mediocre face wash and nothing too extraordinary. This was the first one that I began to use among the 3 but is the only one that failed to impress me.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium LaurethSulphate, Glycerine, CocamidopropylBetaine, Acrylates Copolymer, DecylGlucocide, Sodium LauroylSarcosinate, Polyethylene, Polysorbate20, Peg-12, Dimethicone, Linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Triethnolamine, Fragrance, DMHM Hydantoin, Triclosan, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Mixed plant extracts, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-DI-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Octadecyl-DI-T-Butyl-4-Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Benzophenone-4, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, CI 12490.

(This list is identical to the 3-in-1 face wash but oddly only the term “mixed plant extracts” is mentioned here and we are not informed what exactly these “plants” are ?:-) But in the 3-in-1 face wash, the entire list of plant extracts are described in detail :-/)

My experience with Vivel Active Fair Mild Exfoliating Fairness Face Wash:

The face wash is transparent with clear exfoliating beads. It has a sweet fragrance that resembles ripe figs. But it could also be described as floral and is very pleasant yet not overpowering. The consistency and performance is similar to the 3 in 1 face wash. It spreads easily, exfoliates mildly, removes all traces of grease and grime and leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and supple.

This was the last one I tried among the 3 and the one I’m currently using. I don’t believe a face wash can make you fairer and I wasn’t expecting much from this. I thought this would be creamy and white like ponds face washes and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a clear gel-based face wash. It does make skin look bright but I’m not sure about “fairness” as such. Nevertheless, this is just as good as the 3 in 1 face wash and is a treat to use after a hot, humid, day spent in in the midst of dust and smoke.

This did not break me out and suited my oily, acne-prone skin really well. In fact, my hubby who has normal skin loves it as well. I realized this when I’d removed this face wash from our shower room to review it and replaced it with another face wash. He actually asked for this when he found it missing and it surprised me coz he generally just makes do with whatever is available and doesn’t fuss much about skin care. Anyways, since it is not overly drying, those with dry skin can use it too.

Rating: 5/5 (I’m gonna just overlook the fairness claim since it’s a good face wash otherwise :cute: )

Final thoughts on Vivel face washes:

I totally recommend the Vivel 3 in 1 face wash and the Fairness face wash to those who like mildly exfoliating cleansers. In fact, while using these I never found the need to use a separate scrub (which I usually use about twice a week). I don’t use these to remove make up since I feel it is bad idea to scrub your skin with makeup on. It is better to remove makeup with a creamy cleanser and then follow up with a face wash. The purifying face wash is not too impressive and I feel there are better cleansers out there for oily, acne-prone skin.

The only con (which applies to all 3) is that since the consistency is a bit runny and a lot of product oozes out once you open the flip-top clap. So, you have to be extra careful each time you use it to prevent too much product from pouring out since you need only a teeny tiny amount per use. Nevertheless, the cap fits snugly and I haven’t faced any leakage issues while travelling.

Soooo….that’s Part 2 for you!:shy: You can read Part 1 here. I don’t think anyone guessed the brand right this time :nerd:. Not to worry. I have a feeling almost everyone will guess which brand is coming up next. Wait for it……… :cute:

Have you tried any of these Vivel facewashes?
