Beauty Benefits of Epsom Salt
Salt baths have become very popular these days. And beside the natural sea salt bath, another thing that is becoming very popular is the Epsom salt bath. Epsom salt is not actually salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Epsom salt is used as foot soak and body soak since time innumerable to treat tired, sore muscles.
So lets us see what other beauty benefits these Epsom salts have;
Give some volume boost to your hair
Mix some Epsom salt to your favorite conditioner. Shampoo your hair and apply the salt mix conditioner evenly on your strands. Wait for 10-15 minutes and wash off. This will help you get rid of excessive oils which can leave your hair looking unattractive and greasy. It will add oodles of volume and bounce to your hair.
Epsom salt is great for flawless exfoliation to remove dead, dull skin cells. Mix 1-2 teaspoons of Epsom salt with your favorite cleansing cream. You can mix the salt with yogurt or honey as well. Apply the mixture on your skin, and massage gently using circular motions, then rinse off with normal water. You can apply the scrub on face as well, but I personally don’t prefer applying salt scrubs on face.
Smooth your heels
Step out in the summers with a pretty summer pedicure. Dip your feet in a bowl of lukewarm water, Epsom salt, lemon juice and glycerin. After a while take out your feet and use a spoon of Epsom salt to gently rub on the rough areas. Dip again for 2-3 minutes. Take your feet out and pat dry.
Did the sun give you some terrible sunburn this summer? They worry not. Mix some Epsom salt in a spray bottle of chilled water and spray on the affected areas whenever you can. You can also make packs using Epsom salt and your favorite base ingredient like yogurt, lemon juice or honey, and apply on affected areas. The anti-inflammatory properties of Epsom salt alleviate discomfort.
Do you have dry, chapped lips, and nothing seems to work well to get rid of the problem? Then Epsom salt can be your solution. Make an Epsom-salt scrub by mixing the salt granules with coconut oil or honey and rub the mixture on your lips. Be as gentle as you can. After 5 minutes of scrubbing, wipe it off with a warm, damp cloth. Don’t forget to follow with two swipes of lip balm.
Have you ever included Epsom salts in your beauty regime? If not, start from today 🙂 . But remember not to overdo it. Remember, it is not any natural salt.
