Best Oils For Winter Lip Care
With the onset of the winter season, in addition to our face & hands, our lips bear the brunt too! I am sure we all use a variety of lip balms to keep them moisturized & prevent from chapping. However, there are a variety of home remedies to take care of our lips & make them happy such as natural oils. Essential oils are very powerful to treat dry lips. They contain moisturizing and healing essence & are mainly collected from various plants. These oils are normally massaged on the skin which absorbs the essence of the oils, thereby moisturizing the lips & making them soft.
Jojoba Oil is one of the most nourishing oils & it provides a natural instant relief from severely chapped lips. Simply take a few drops of jojoba oil and apply it on dry lips. Leave it on for about 15 minutes & remove using cotton. It helps in restoring moisture into your lips, by nurturing the skin cells in the lips. It softens and lubricates the skin when applied.
Coconut Oil contains fatty acid emollients, antioxidants and vitamin E which get absorbed into the skin & keep it moisturized & hydrated. It relieves dry and itchy skin. Take coconut oil and apply it over your lips whenever your lips are dry & massage with your fingers. You may leave some oil on your lips at night before sleeping if your lips are too dry.
Avocado oil is one of the most popular ingredients used in the preparation of natural lip balms. It is generally used to get soft & pink lips. Oil massage is the easiest way to use avocado oil on your lips. Just take few drops of the oil on your fingertips and massage your lips with it.
In addition, you may also mix it with honey & salt to form a paste. This will remove the dead skin & honey will moisturize the lips. Another way this can be used is by mixing it with sugar. Use this is to scrub off the dark spots from the lips. Mixing avocado and shea butter also helps in moisturizing the lips.
Olive oil is very effective on chapped lips. It is loaded with nutrients, vitamin E, antioxidants & healthy fatty acids. Heat the olive oil and massage it on your lips. You may also mix it with coconut oil and honey to make a natural lip balm.
Almond essence is rich in healthy fats, minerals, proteins and vitamin B & E. Also almond oil protects your skin from sunburn & its emollients soften and rejuvenate your lips. Simply massage your lips with a few drops of almond oil. You can also mix your favorite carrier oil with it. For getting soft and pink lips, you can also make your own natural lip balm by mixing almond oil and honey.
The extract of Jasmine flower has an exotic and warm fragrance which soothes and relaxes the skin. Simply rub your lips with the oil 3-4 times a day to get soft & healthy lips.
