Best Primer Tips You Need To Know
I am sure we all wonder how actresses & models manage to look flawless all the time. Well, using a good primer can make all the difference & take your makeup to a whole new level. Primers are oil-free gel formulas which prepare your skin for makeup & create a smooth base. They help your makeup glide on smoothly, blend easily & last much longer. In addition, they even out your skin tone, disguise flaws & reduce oil and shine. They also make pores appear smaller.
It is a conventional notion that primers should only be used by oily skinned beauties. However this is clearly not the case. Every skin type benefits from makeup primers. Primers are usually put on after your skin care products and before your makeup. There are different types of primers for face, eyes, lips, etc. The prominent ones are Colorbar Perfect Match Primer, L’Oreal Paris Base Magique Primer, Inglot Makeup base & Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Now let us take a look at some tips for applying a primer.
Choosing The Right Primer
First & foremost, it is essential to choose the right primer according to your skin needs. If you have oily skin, then you should choose a gel based primer for a matte look. Dry or normal skinned beauties should go ahead with cream- based primers to hydrate the skin.
You should also keep other skin requirements in mind. For instance, if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, you should preferably choose a silicone-free primer & patch test before use to avoid skin breakouts. If you plan on spending too much time in the sun, go for a primer with SPF.
Moisturize! Always apply a moisturizer before applying primer. Choose a light moisturizer & let it sit for a few minutes to allow it to completely get absorbed into your skin. This will make your primer application even.
Take a small amount of the primer on your hand & apply with fingers or a beauty blender. Make sure you dab it gently onto your face, beginning under your eyes and around your nose. Next, add the primer to your forehead, chin, nose, and cheeks.
Dab & Blend!
Always make sure that you do not rub the primer vigorously on your face. Simply dab it with your fingers. Then blend it properly preferably with a beauty blender so that no uneven patches are there.
Applying Foundation & Concealer
Once your primer is dry & set, apply foundation & concealer, again carefully blending them.
The Finishing Touch: Apply some loose powder for the foundation & concealer to set in.
Less is more: Always remember that you do not need to coat your face with several layers of primer. A small amount is plenty & goes a long way. Overusing it will leave you with a cakey look.
It is important to keep your eye shadow in place which is usually the first makeup to fade during the day. Apply a good eye primer on your eyelids before applying shadow to sustain all day.
Flutter Those Lashes: Apply an eyelash primer or mascara base for thicker & longer lashes. Use it under your regular mascara. Make sure to limit it to one or two coats else the mascara would look too clumpy.
Prime Your Lips: Use a lip primer which would prevent your lipstick from smudging or settling into lines.
