Bobbi Brown Powder Blush in Plum Review & Swatches

Hi All,

Today I will be reviewing Bobbi Brown Blush in the shade ‘Plum’. This was the very first Plum shade I invested in and love it to bits…Infact, I’m so scared it will get over that I use with with great  Kanjoosi πŸ˜‰ That would be obvious when you see the pan πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

So let’s have a look at what makes this blush so very special.

  • Comes in this sleek, flip-top compact that can be used individually or assembled into palettes (sold separately).
  •  Apply on the apples of cheeks using the Blush Brush, blending up into the hairline, then downwards to soften. Finish with a pop of brighter blush, applied just on the apples of cheeks. For a shimmery glow on cheeks, follow with a Shimmer Brick Compact.

My take on Bobbi Brown Powder Blush Plum

  •  Packaging: This blush has the classic black packaging with a transparent plastic panel in the front which helps identify the shade easily. The pot is square shaped and extremely sturdy. The flip top is also strong and seems to be very travel friendly, although I haven’t tried that yet πŸ™‚ The rear of the pan had the Shade name and number along with the weight details. I find this packaging very chic and classy. Honestly girls, I’m a a sucker for black sturdy packaging πŸ™‚
  •  Texture & Pigmentation: While swatching it seems a bit heavy but really isn’t. It has a thick almost creamy texture and fells as if I’m touching a patch a velvet. The pigmentation is superb and one doesn’t need much for a single use. Usually, a single swipe is what I need for each cheek. Its very easy to overdo this blush so one must be careful which using this.
  • Staying Power: The staying power is quite amazing. On my combination skin, it lasts for about five hours and then starts fading. But even then there is a tint of color on my cheeks at all time even till I get home.
  • Application: I usually just pat my blush brush once in the pot and then use on the cheeks. Like I do with most well pigmented blushes, I start brushing from my hairline to the apples of my cheeks. I always feel more comfy doing this since I feel it helps me control the color better. Do any of you do this??
  • Cost & Availability: This blush is pretty expensive and does burn a good sized hole in your pocket. But the pigmentation and the rush of having this makes it all worthwhile. Availability is also tough since it isn’t available in India…So we would have have to order through Sephora or like me, request our Onsite pals to hunt this down for us.

What I liked about Bobbi brown plum in plum

  • Fabulous Pigmentation
  • Sturdy and classy packaging
  • The color is a must have for those willing to experiment.
  • Texture is so velvety and I just love touching it…Hehe..seems crazy I know but it feels heavenly!
  • Easy to spread out on the cheeks. It doesnt leave a powdery look.
  • Amazing staying power. I wore it at 7.30am and when I came home at 7pm, I still had quite a bit of the tint on my cheeks. I didn’t look washed out at all.
  • Quantity is good and will last a while

What I do not like Bobbi brown powder blush in plum

  • Wish it had a mirror for touchups.
  • Availability is an issue.
  • It burns a hole in our pockets. 24$ for a blush is pretty steep unless you are a blush freak.
  • See-through lid is great to identify amongst hoards of blushes in my drawer.

Will I buy it again: I would love to try another shade for sure.
