Sorry bout the blurry ingredients list. :hypnotized: The label seems to have peeled in certain areas making the first part quite difficult to read. And the list is sooo incredibly long that I simply could not imagine typing it out.
If you know me well, by now you would have already guessed that this is precisely why I indulged in this beauty and shut a blind eye to the ridiculous price tag  Look at it! Its so priddyy :inlove: The lipstick comes in a reflective, mirror-finish, plastic case with a clear cube at the bottom that indicates the shade inside. But the colors on the lid do not correspond to the shade inside. For instance, the font and plastic band on my lid is orange and so is the shade inside, but there’s a mauvey-pink shade with blue casing and some other fuschia shade with yellow casing, a beige one with mint casing and so on. I just feel like collecting them all! The swivel-mechanism revealing the lipstick bullet feels super sturdy. I soon realized that the packaging not only looks good but is of high quality as well and really resilient. The only issue is that the mirrored surface is highly prone to scratches. To top it, this has no outer carton and neither does it come sealed. Because of this, the brand new piece that I received already had quite a few scratches on it :struggle: How I wish it came with a velvet pouch :shy: 😛
Unique name for a lippie: 1..2..3.. Sunshine!! In case you’re wondering, Soleil (pronounced So-layy) is French for Sun :sun: The lipstick bullet is breath-taking and appears neon, like say, Fanta orange! When the SA swatched this shade on my hand, the first thing I said was, “This won’t suit me!â€. But she insisted I try it on my lips and for some odd reason I agreed (I rarely ever do so :-/). I was taken aback by how gorgeous it looked and how surprisingly wearable it was. :yippee: Although the shade is a stark, vivid orange with absolutely no shimmer, it takes on a slight pinkish hue when worn making this a flattering shade of Coral. This’ll look exceptionally good on light to medium skin tones. Simply remember not to pack-on or layer this color heavily since it tends to look kinda loud and a bit scary if done so. :tremble:
This is practically unscented and has no discernible fragrance which is a huuuge relief for someone with a sensitive nose like me. :yippee: If layered, it does have a waxy flavor but nothing too bothersome. Nevertheless, I’d expect waxy flavor only from inexpensive brands and was a bit surprised, not to mention a tad disappointed, since this is the only aspect that lends this lipstick a li’l tacky feel.
Texture & Finish:
It is buttery-smooooth and glides like a dream even on the driest of lips! :lipstick: Because of its creamy texture, it may settle into fine lines or get patchy on non-exfoliated lips. But the great news is that if you blend the patches with your finger, the formula simply melts onto your lips and you get even, non-streaky application. The finish is creamy and glossy and gives lips a deliciously healthy shine. On my parched lips, the glossiness fades within an hour but nevertheless keeps my lips well moisturized. But for 10 hours, as claimed??? I don’t think so! :smug:
It has very buildable pigmentation ranging from sheer to near-opaque. When worn sheer, it resembles Mac See Sheer and when worn to full intensity it resembles Mac Vegas Volt (but this is comparatively less pigmented). It does blur lip discoloration but this particular shade may not completely conceal highly pigmented lips. And because the pigments are not densely packed, the finish looks a bit blotchy when worn heavily.
Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in No.20 1,2,3 Soleil Swatches:-
Normally, you wouldn’t expect a creamy lipstick to stay on for more than an hour or two, but this is not all that bad. It lasts for about 3 to 4 hours but not more than that. I do feel that’s pretty good for a lippie that has the texture and feel of a lip balm. The glossy finish fades quickly but it leaves behind a light orange-y stain (thank God no hot-pink stain…hate those!). The stain is fairly mild and can be removed easily.
What I like about Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in No.20: 1,2,3 Soleil:
- Packaging is not only super-pretty but super-sturdy as well :inlove:
- Color-indicator at the bottom of the case makes it easy to locate shades
- Gorgeous shade that can be worn sheer for a natural look or layered for a full-blown intense lip :lipstick:
- Brightens up sallow complexion and looks great even with no other make-up on
- Buttery-smooth formula that glides on without tugging
- Does not require a lip balm underneath even if you have the driest of lips since this moisturizes really well
- Formula melts onto lips and looks smooth when blended
- Creamy, glossy finish that gives lips a healthy shine
- Lasts for 3 to 4 hours, which is pretty good considering the texture and feel
- Leaved behind a faint, peachy-orange stain that is easy to remove
- No discernible fragrance
What don’t I like aboutBourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in No.20: 1,2,3 Soleil:
- Thanks to its creamy texture, the color settles into fine lines and dry patches (but this can be easily rectified by blending with your finger)
- Due to the above mentioned point, proper exfoliation is required prior to application to get an even, non-streaky finish
- Finishes up fast since it is so buttery and oh-so-addictive 😉 Honestly, I couldn’t be happier but this may be a con for some :cute:
- Shade looks a bit odd and neon if layered heavily
- Darn pricey for a drugstore brand 😯
- Packaging is highly prone to scratches and does not come sealed/with outer carton 😥
Please note that the actual shade is atleast 2 tones brighter than what is seen in these pics. It does look very natural here but is actually more vibrant. Final thoughts:
The packaging of this lipstick is truly a collector’s dream! Not only is the casing gorgeous, the shade is gorgeous, the formula is gorgeous…everything about this is truly delectable. Except maybe the hefty price tag 😛 But the good news is that you get 2 Mac dupes for the price of one :lashes: (refer “Pigmentation†section). So I guess it can be overlooked, right? 😉 Yeah, yeah, it appears as if I’m making excuses to justify my purchase 😀 but you really have to swatch and see for yourself :nerd: Bottomline: If you crave oranges and corals and love glossy, moisturizing lipsticks, then this cutie is sure to win your heart  Have you tried Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in No.20: 1,2,3 Soleil ?
