Packaging: The first thing that will come to your mind when you see this is that it looks exactly like EOS lip balms. Well it actually does resemble EOS ones but with minor differences. Revo watermelon lip balm comes in a matte green, super-solid plastic spherical case that screws open to reveal a flat-topped, dome-shaped, pink lip balm. KInda made to resemble a watermelon cut in half. How cute is that! The size is roughly that of a Table Tennis ball. The flat top makes it nice and easy to apply the lip balm in a precise manner (EOS ones have a rounded dome top). Another feature unique to this is that it has wave-shaped grooves that help you to grip the ball easily while opening and not let it slip from your hands (very thoughtful I must say).
The expiry date is printed on the ball (Thank you! :yippee:) so that means I don’t have to reserve the outer packaging. While the ones abroad come in a blister packaging with details printed on cardboard backing, the ones we get in India come sealed in plastic shrink-wrap with the product details and ingredients printed on the clear plastic.
My Thoughts about Chapice Revo Watermelon Lip Balm
Fragrance: This has an absolutely delicious scent that reminds me of a pink lemonade lollipop I had long ago. Although it says watermelon, it smells more like green apple sweet yet tart.
Color: The balm appears guava-pink in color with absolutely no shimmer. It is very sheer and applies almost like a clear balm without any tint. Since there is absolutely no white cast, this will not look pasty or odd on even the most pigmented lips.
Texture: It applies really smoothly and is not overly slippery like some very glossy balms. The finish is ultra matte on my dry lips. Unless I tell you, you’ll never guess I have anything on (In fact, you won’t believe me even if I told you :-P). It’s THAT matte and undetectable. For this reason, this makes an awesome option for guys and for those who get conscious of/don’t like glossy balms. This is also great to wear under lipsticks since it will help the color to last longer. I particularly love wearing this on top of lipsticks since the clear formula and the non-glossy finish does not interfere with the color worn underneath.
The first thing that hit me when I opened the lid was the yummylicious candy smell. It is a bit strong but I’m an ardent fruit-flavored candy fan so it’s no surprise that I find the tangy, fruity aroma irresistible! The balm is pretty solid in texture but glides on the driest of lips easily without dragging. Since this has no shimmer it does not settle into fine lines or dry up my parched lips the way balms with shimmer do. Since it’s not overly creamy or glossy, the staying power is better than traditional lip balms. It is not at all waxy but not greasily balmy either somewhere in between. If I had to compare it to something, I’d say this is somewhat similar to Maybelline Baby Lips but the Maybelline one has a bit more glide and is a tad glossier than Revo.
I love using this at night since it has no SPF and since I have oily skin I find other balms tend to make my facial skin get oilier during the course of the night and I wake up with a shiny face (does anyone else face this issue??). With Revo, my skin doesn’t get as oily as it normally does, and it really soothes dry, chapped lips and makes them soft, plump and smooth by morning. It does not do much for pigmentation but then it doesn’t claim to either. Regular use has improved the condition of my lips and made them smoother with less visible fine lines.
At first you may think paying 450 bucks for a lip balm is a bit much, but if you consider the huge quantity (7 grams is big deal) , the sturdy & good-quality packaging and the fact that you don’t need to reapply this as often as other lip balms; you’re really getting your money’s worth.
One thing I’m not a huge fan of is that this tastes sweet, like really sweeet. If you happen to lick your lips or take a sip of water you can definitely tell. Am not really into sweets and even when it comes to chocolates I prefer bitter ones so I find the taste a bit strong to my liking. It’s almost like I’ve slathered on sugar syrup or like I’ve just eaten cake. 😛 Of course, this could be a good thing if you’re into sweets. And in case you’re wondering, no it does not taste fruity (or anything like watermelon). It’s just plain sugary sweet.

Final thoughts: If you love sour candies or candies in general you’ll love the fruity scents of these Revo lip balms. Not only do they look super cute, they soothe and heal chapped lips while rendering a clear, undetectable, matte finish (that’s why there are no swatch pics in this post, they just don’t show up on camera). These make lovely gifts as well. This has become a handbag staple for me and I highly recommend trying one if you can get your hands on one of these cuties :cute:
