There is something so alluring about the colour red, when it comes to fashion and makeup. Whether it’s red lips, cheeks or nails; this colour can never go out of fashion. It transcends trends and one can be assured to be on top of their fashionista game by flaunting the colour.
The polish I am now going to review is something I picked up on a whim, because I love flaunting all shades of red on my nails. It looks effortlessly chic and makes one look polished in a jiffy. Read on to see if my blind purchase was a successful one.

Packaging: It comes in the classic China Glaze packaging with a big glass bottle and a matte black brush handle, that looks strong enough. But I haven’t gotten around to dropping any of the bottles……. Yet! 😛
My take on China Glaze Nail Lacquer City Siren:
First off, please excuse that black ring on my index fingernail it’s my Voter Mark that refuses to go. I know that my nail is permanently stained and I’ll need to let the mark grow out. I am proud of voting and all that jazz but come on! It’s been over 3 months and I haven’t been able to get rid of the mark! *sigh*
Anyway, moving on to the review from my mad ramblings. 😛
The polish is a universally flattering colour that is sure to appeal to the aesthetic sense of women of all ages. It is a deep red, that can look cherry or maroon depending on the lighting and layers used. It looks beautiful even against my dusky skin and is sure to look even cooler on someone with fairer hands.
The polish cannot boast of single stroke opacity, and requires atleast 2-3 layers for complete opacity. It easily lasts for over a week, but please note that I don’t use any polish without a base and top coat. The polish begins to show minor (almost negligible) tip wear on the third day.
What I like about China Glaze Nail Lacquer City Siren:
- Travel safe packaging
- Brush doesn’t absorb that much excess product
- Large brush provides non streaky finish
- Matte black brush handle
- Large quantity provided
- All China Glaze colours are free of DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde
- Lasts over a week, but only if used over a base coat and with a decent top coat
- Universally flattering colour
What I don’t like about China Glaze Nail Lacquer City Siren:
- Takes atleast 10 minutes to set completely
- Marked up prices in India
- Quantity is a tad too much
- Starts showing minor tip wear from the third day itself
- Needs atleast 2-3 layers for complete opacity
Would I repurchase? :Nah! It ain’t finishing anytime soon!
Would I recommend it to friends?: Sure!
