Black nail paint has been the go to colour for many rebellious teens but I always feel that it has a grunge quality that requires a certain type of class to carry off. I feel that this colour is very versatile and depending on the finish of the nail paint it can be used by everyone; regardless of age or gender.
The polish I am going to review is my second black nail paint from China Glaze. It is a traditional, if one can call a black nail paint that, glossy black that can be used in wide range of nail art techniques. It is a versatile colour that is striking against any skin tone. Read on to find out if it met my expectations.

These glossy lacquers work in perfect cohesion with our professional nail treatments for lasting strength, durability and overall gorgeous nails. Need stronger, longer nails? Try our Nail Strengthener and Growth Formula. Want softer Cuticles? Check out our Orange Cuticle Oil. Looking to prevent chipping and peeling of your favourite colour? Our No Chip Top Coat is for you. For a flawless application every time, use our quality formulas with our optimized 440-strand brush. Nothing says the perfect nail like China Glaze. All China Glaze colours are free of DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.
Packaging: It comes in the classic China Glaze packaging. Big glass bottle with a matte black brush handle, that looks sturdy enough. But I wish the writing was in another colour, because it’s next to impossible to photograph black writing against a black background!
My take on China Glaze Nail Lacquer Liquid Leather:
Can I start by saying that I love how each China Glaze nail paint has a catchy and sassy name? One really has to find out how CG goes about naming it’s nail paints because darn! They do it tremendously well!
This black nail paint has a glossy finish that begins to show minor (read: almost negligible) tip wear within the first 2-3 days but stays on my nails for a solid 6-8 days. But what is truly astounding about this nail paint, is that it is a solid single coater! A single coat is sufficient for perfect opacity.
The drying time is short because the formula is of the perfect consistency. Thin enough for application to be a breeze but thick enough for single coat opacity.
I have layered Liquid Leather over Sexy in The City, to cover the weak pigmentation of the latter and bring an interesting twist in the former.
I’ll be sure to review Sexy in The City next… 😉
What I like about China Glaze Nail Lacquer Liquid Leather:
- Travel safe packaging
- Brush doesn’t absorb that much excess product
- Large brush provides non streaky finish
- Matte black brush handle
- Large quantity provided
- All China Glaze colours are free of DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.
- Glossy finish
- Single coat opacity
- Perfect formula
- Versatile colour
What I don’t like about China Glaze Nail Lacquer Liquid Leather:
- Takes atleast 10 minutes to set completely
- Marked up prices in India
- Colour may not appeal to the aesthetic sense of a few
Would I repurchase? Nah! It ain’t finishing anytime soon!
Would I recommend it to friends? Sure!
