My experience with Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion –

Clinique says that their products are fragrance free but as soon as you open the cap, you get a strong smell of alcohol. You have to shake this well as there are some white residue at the bottom which should get mixed up. The first time I used it after cleaning my face with Sebamed Cleansing foam and it stung as soon as I applied on my blemishes. I got past that, applied on my whole face and then applied a moisturiser.

The next day my face was all red and irritating. Even after this, I used this product for 3 days in total and what I got was more pimples on my face and jaw line. I was shocked that a product could affect me in this way. I have not had such a bad case of acne for a long time. I immediately made an appointment with a dermatologist and now my face is healing.

I do not know about other skin types but this product is not at all suitable for acne prone skin. I have not used it after those initial 3 days and due to its strong alcohol content, I am now using it to press my pigments and surprisingly it works well.

This is the first time I tried a Clinique product and I bought a mask also from Clinique but I am afraid to try that. It is an expensive product and it only made my skin worse.

I cannot comment on its effect on blemishes as I am not brave enough to try it again and torture my skin.

What I like about Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion –

  • Nothing

What I don’t like about Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion –

  • Cause irritation and redness
  • Caused breakouts
  • Smells strongly of alcohol
  • Expensive

It was an impulse buy and I regret buying this. This may work for some as I have heard people swear by Clinique 3 in 1 regime but sadly this was a complete dud for me and caused bad reaction on my skin.

Have you tried Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion?

  1. Ria…sad that it dint work for yu…i heard pl rave about it..but yeah alcohol is not good for acne skin…it supressed temporarily but eventualy dries out the skin giving more acne of a different kind….but i tel you what, this toner which i have been using and propogating is a wonder…1:3 ratio of green tea and apple cider vinegar , 5-10 drops of tea tree + lavender essential oil + one capsule of Vit-E store it in a spray bottle and make a fresh batch every 10-15 days, since it doesnot have any preservatives it might rot after a couple weeks.

    • I am now using lemon juice as a toner as I have heard that it helps in reducing scars..till now no side effects and I am having very less breakouts

  2. This one talks abput peeling..does it have AHA/ BHA or any acids? If so then its actually good but then if alcohol content outweighs it then sad..

  3. Hey!
    That was a sad experience.

However, from what i read in your review, it seems that the product is actually a toner. And that explains the alcoholic smell. It might be true that Clinique has not used any perfume in it which is why you get that strong smell of alcohol.

I have been using the Body Shot toner for removing blemishes and its the same; it has a high content of alcohol and a white oil at the bottom. One is supposed to shake it before use.

From my experience with acne and scarring, I would advice you to put this toner in a spray bottle (which has been sterlized properly) and just spray it on your face. What happens when you use a cotton ball is :
    1. you may end up using too much of product, which might cause a lot of irritation
    2. the dirt from cotton might mix up with the product

I used to have an irritated skin because of the body shop toner too, but i stopped using it with cotton and also started using a moisturizer right after.

It might help your case too 🙂

    Take care
