Covergirl Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Eyeshadows 220 Urban Basics

Hey people, I am back here again with an eyeshadow review from the blast from the past series. I must say our dearest Santa has worked really wise while distributing the gorgeous eye makeups. Anamika made sure that each one of us receives a good variety of eyeshadows and not have monotonous single brand goodies.

When I talk about variety, I too received eyeshadows from various brands and amongst them were the Covergirl eyeshadows. I received two of these and I was quite excited to use them since I have not had chance to try this brand all because of its unavailability in the Indian markets.

I chose to use the “Urban Basics- 220” eye enhancers first and to be honest it did not stand up to my expectations.
Read on to know why:

They blend effortlessly to bring your eyes out beautifully, without overshadowing. Experiment using them together or as single shades.

My experience with Covergirl Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Eyeshadows 220 Urban Basics :

Packaging: The eyeshadow 4-kit comes along with comes in sleek glossy navy blue case with and transparent lid that flip opens and click shuts. The packaging is very sleek, compact and travel friendly.

Texture: These powder eyeshadows are not very powdery, indeed they are soft, smooth with shimmers. The shades easily blend and three out of four shades have no fall outs.

Shades: The cover girl 4-kit eye enhancers palette comes with four shades.

The first color from the left is a lavender –grey color, the second color is a shade of taupe, the rose pink is loaded with shimmers and the fourth color is off- white.

Color Pay off: The lavender- grey shade looks dark in the palette but has terrible color pay off and does not show at all; The taupe shade has okayish pigmentation and needs a lot of efforts to built the color; The most terrible of the four shades is the third color, the rose pink color has tones of shimmers and has no color at all, this particular shade has immense fall outs and will give you only shimmer all around and the forth shade, the off white shade is the most likeable shade among the four, it has good pigmentation and works perfectly as a highlighter.

Applicator: The dual end sponge applicator that comes with this palette is a total waste. It fails to get even a bit of color on the lids and is even rugged with just two – three trials of use.

My Take: Well I really wanted this palette to work for me and I had huge expectations with it.
The only color that I liked from this palette is the taupe and the off white shade, the other two just deny to show up on my lid. I have even tried using them wet but then again it did not help me much.

Infact there is a kind of weird problem that I had with this palette, it is that that the shades of this palette have now developed a kind of layer that prevents the brush to catch the color, I need to scrap the palette shades to use and get some color for my lids.

Coming to the staying power, once you have managed to get the color on your lids with a base beneath, it stays for some good 6 hours without creasing.

Honestly, I like two shades from this palette and will only use these two colors in future.

What I Like About Covergirl Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Eyeshadows 220 Urban Basics :

  • Sleek and compact, travel friendly packaging.
  • No fallouts from the three colors.
  • The off white colors makes for a good highlighter, the best in this palette.
  • The colors looks subtle on lids and are good for casual eye looks.

What I Don’t Like About Covergirl Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Eyeshadows 220 Urban Basics :

  • Pathetic pigmentation.
  • Poor sponge applicator, got rugged in two usage.
  • The second lightest shade has huge, huge shimmers that look chunky and has fall outs.
  • Without a base would hardly show up and stay.
  • Develops a waxy layer that needs to be scrapped to get the color.

Rating: 2.5/5

Will I Recommend: Not at all.
