Today I’ll be sharing my experiences with my first ever lip-stain pen. I have dry lips and thus I generally prefer moisturizing creamy textured lipsticks. But I couldn’t stop myself from getting this lip-stain pen as it looked like a sketch pen and I remembered my childhood days when I stained my lips with sketch pen and got good scolding from Maa. And moreover, I love experimenting with different products and lip-stains are slowly taking the place. So after hearing all the rave about lip-stains I decided to buy one.
Read to find if it impressed or depressed me.

My experience with CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain 440 Wild Berry Wink :
Packaging: A sketch pen like packaging with a clear cap and a marker applicator which helps in precise application. The shade number written at base. The pointed marker like applicator works great for lining lips but sometimes results in streaky application.
Shade:- The name says “Wild Berry Wink†and thus I naturally thought it would be a berry shade, but on me it is a vibrant red. Yes, a very gorgeous red. It makes teeth look whiter and face brighter. I am a red lover, so though the name was misleading, ultimately I am happy.
Texture: It is a water based lip stain, applies smoothly but not so evenly. It goes easily on my lower lip but it is tough to get the desired color on my upper lips and outer corners of lips. Moreover, it sets into a matte finish after few seconds. So you need to prep your lips well prior application. I prefer applying a little lip-gloss on top.
Pigmentation: Well pigmented. It gives bold flush of color in just one go.
Staying power: The color is really long staining and I need a good makeup remover to remove the strong stain it leaves even after 7-8 hours. The stain just doesn’t want to go.
Summing up my LIKES and DISLIKES:-
What I Liked about CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain 440 Wild Berry Wink:
- Gorgeous red color.
- Settles into beautiful matte finish.
- Stays really longggg.
- Well pigmented.
- Covers lip pigmentation.
- Doesn’t bleed.
- The marker applicator is pretty good and is great for lining lips.
- The pen is compact and slides down easily in your bag.
- The cap shuts perfectly.
What I didn’t Like about CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain 440 Wild Berry Wink :
- Sometimes leads to an uneven application.
- Not easily available in India, if available it will cost a bomb.
- Need to prep lips prior application. If not, it’ll seep into the dry spots and will look terrible.
- Color is not accurate as the description.
FINAL THOUGHTS:- Overall I like the product, gorgeous shade, stays super long and is well pigmented, the dryness which I feel due to my super dry lips can easily be avoided with a balm underneath or lip gloss above. It even works great as a base for lipsticks and makes them last longer.
