I have eaten Daal Baati in few restaurants of India but they never taste that great when I compare them with my mother daal baati.Simple reason is that my mom Dal baati are softer.I remember eating Dal bati in one of the porch restaurant of Jaisalmair and there I literally needed all my force to break it up.This disappointed me because lot of people who haven’t tasted the actually baati then won’t like to eat it again.
I hope you will try this recipe to see the actual difference
1/2 tsp. each cumin seeds
2 cups water
We add the batis in lots of ghee for one or two hour which makes them soft .Even if you do not like to dip them in the ghee then also taste good but not that heavenly.Try it once.I dip them in a bowl of daal and mash them and eat.Two battis are more than enough for a person like me .Only thing is that I eat two bati in the morning , after noon and then evening also:p
