My obsession with oils just keeps growing. My collection graph is growing day by day. Initially it began with the ghar ghar ka hair oil- parachute coconut oil and then I ventured towards more traditional ayurvedic oil. Recently, I have been trying out new oils from across the globe like argan, rosehip and jojoba.
My first love is definitely the ayurvedic oils but what triumphs these are those oils which are versatile and can be used for hair, face and body. Today the oil that I am going to highlight is Jojoba oil from the brand Dessert Essence. This brand is natural and is certified organic. This immediately peaked my interest in their products. I always wanted to try Jojoba oil from a long time and see what the hype was surrounding this oil. So, read on to know if this oil stays true to its tall claims..
What is Jojoba oil?
Jojoba oil is the liquid produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba oil closely resembles human sebum- the skin’s natural oil. Jojoba oil is comprised of wax esters &Â fatty acids whereas sebum is composed of triglycerides, wax esters and fatty acids.
Packaging: This oil comes in a transparent bottle with a flip cap. The flip cap snaps shut and doesn’t cause any leakage. The bottle seems to be made of a durable material as it hasn’t developed any scratches and it didn’t break even when I dropped it twice.
HAIR: This oil is yellow in color and has a nutty fragrance. I have used this oil as a hot oil treatment for my hair. Simply heat the required oil in a bowl of warm water and slowly massage it on the scalp. This oil is light in texture and no matter how much oil you slather on your hair, it isn’t heavy as the traditions oils would make u feel. It gets washed off easily even with a mild shampoo and post hair wash your hair is super smooth and shiny. No frizz and no dryness at all.
SKIN: Jojoba oil has texture similar to sebum of the skin so it is excellent as a face oil, daily moisturizer and even as a night serum. Just wash your face clean, pat dry and apply two drops of this oil just like the way you would apply your regular moisturizer. Since this oil is light, it gets absorbed straight into the skin and leaves no greasy layer at all. My mom has dry mature skin and she loves how this oil makes her skin smooth. Even oily skinned girls like me can use this as a moisturizer. Don’t be afraid- it will not make your face like an oil rig.
MAKE UP REMOVER: Did you know that the commercial makeup removers are laden with harmful chemicals which when used for long periods prove harmful. So, an alternative to such makeup removers are oils. Any type of oil- be it coconut, olive or jojoba, proves effective in removing makeup. But some oils sting when they are used to remove tough eye makeup and waterproof mascaras. So in such cases jojoba oil proves to be a safe bet. It doesn’t sting and in maximum of 3-4 swipes removes all the makeup.
