Hey all beauty geeks!!! Hope everybody is rocking and having good time 🙂 I am back with another DIY face mask. As I have already mentioned in the earlier post, I suffer (ed) from adult acne for a very long time. I have, probably, tried all anti-acne creams, gels, lotions, etc. to end the party acne was having on my face. When none of that worked, I moved on to try natural recipes. And it was then I stumbled upon this little gem to help me slow down the acne attack and deal with the subsequent scars.
I was finally able to win over the acne by using the glycolic acid in my face cream. However, I still continue to use this mask as a weekly maintenance routine. So let me take you through the process of whipping out an incredible face mask that really works against the persistent acne.
The ingredients required in the mask are beneficial on their own for our skin. However, this face mask combines the awesome properties of all the ingredients to dish out a potent anti-acne face pack. The ingredients required are: ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg and our good, old friend honey.
Preparation of the mask:
Step 1: Take one tbsp of honey.
Honey for skin: Honey is a natural moisturizer for any skin type. It has lot of anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that are needed to heel acne. Honey will detoxify the skin of any impurities and make the skin soft and supple.
Step 2: Mix one tbsp of cinnamon in the honey.
Cinnamon for skin: Cinnamon has been used since centuries for its anti-viral and antiseptic properties. It will help you to stop the spread of bacteria on the skin and help with the healing of acne. It is also a natural exfoliant and contains lot of antioxidants.
Step 3: Mix 1/2 tbsp of nutmeg in the mixture.
Nutmeg for skin: Nutmeg has anti-inflammatory properties and thus, help fade away acne scars. It also has anti-bacterial properties, which in combination with honey, suits the acne-prone skin.
Step 4: Combine the ingredients well enough to make a thick paste.
The consistency of the mask is pretty thick. You can add a bit of lime juice to dilute it, if you want. But be cautious, lime juice will increase the photo-sensitivity of the skin. I prefer the mask without the lime juice, as then I can apply the mask easily and not worry about it dripping everywhere.
Step 5: Apply the mixture with clean fingers. Wait for 15 minutes or till the time you start feeling a tingling sensation.
Step 6: Wet a washcloth with warm water and put it on the mask to open the pores and thus, also help in removing any blackheads.
Step 7: Rinse the face pack with warm water and apply a moisturizer to the clean face.
This mask works slowly and with consistent use, you will find yourself with a healthy and improved skin.
Precautions:Anti- Acne Cinnamon And Nutmeg Mask :-
1. Nutmeg and cinnamon can be irritating to skin. Do a patch test before applying the face pack.
2. Remove the pack quickly if you feel a burning sensation.
3. DO NOT SCRUB with this face pack. The cinnamon and nutmeg can irritate the skin further. Only rinse with warm water to remove.
4. Use this mask alternate days to flare down your acne. Once the acne is in control, make it a weekly routine. Do not use it every day as it can be really drying.
5. If you are into exfoliation, stop the same for days when using this mask as cinnamon is a natural exfoliant. You do not want to over-exfoliate the skin.
Hope this mask helps you the same way as it helped me to say ‘tata bye bye’ to irritating acne. 🙂
