Easy Bombay Special Rice(With Pao Bhaji Masala) With Step By Step Pictures



A popular road side Mumbai Recipe.Recipe is simple but taste delicious because of the pav bhaji masala which is added into it.You can add any number of veggies in it.I specially like to make it when I have left over rice with me.

  • Ingredients:-Serves 2
  • Preperation time 10 minutes
  • Cooking time-20 minutes
1 big cup Basmati rice(Boiled)
1 small chopped capsicum
1 carrot chopped
1 small potato chopped
1/2 cup green peas(optional)
1 or 2 small tomatoes chopped
1 chopped onion
2 green chillies chopped
1tsp garlic chopped
Cumin : 1 tsp.

1-2 spring onion chopped1/4th cup water

1tbsp pav bhaji masala(any brand masala)

2-3bay leafs

1tsp kitchen king masala
1/4tsp.garam masala
Salt according to taste
1tbsp red chilli paste
1tsp lemon juice
2tbs oil

Method And Preperation – Bombay Special Rice:-


Step1-Take a heavy pan and add oil in it.You can use butter too if you want.When hot add cumin seeds ,bay leaves and finely chopped garlic and green chillies in it.

Step2-Add onion when half done.When onions are cooked add all the vegetables and cover it so that all vegetables are cooked.


Step3-Once all the veggies are cooked add tomatoes ,pav bhaji masala ,kitchen king masala,garam masala and salt.Let the masala get cooked for 2-3minutes .Add red chilly paste in it.

Step4-You can add little water so that masala doesn’t get too dry.Add spring onion and do not mix them.




Step5Add boil rice and gently mix it up.



Step6:You can squeeze a lemon if you want


Serve it with curd or have it as a full meal.
