Remembering Maa With Dahi Vada :)

Recipe of Dahi Vada

Little bit of recipes which I have shared with you here on Wise She is because of my mom.She has always let me experiement anything in her kitchen and make a giant mess of  it:D:D.Someday I use to cook some dish so badly that there was no utensils left for the next meal.:D:D From chopping green chilli in a pan just to make them look pretty :D:D and thinking of boiling tomatoes in pressure cooker without water is all what I use to experiment in those days.I wonder if I will have the same patience with my daughter in future 🙂

I was getting nostalgic as my mom is in Delhi right now  so I thought of thanking her by making her favorite Dahi Vada’s.

Dahi Vada’s are lentil dumpling which are topped with sweet and spicy yogurt chutney. You can serve them as chat or as a side dish.:)

Method and Preparation of Dahi Vada

Step1 – Clean and soak both the dals in 4-5 cups of water for 5-6 hours .Drain out the water and add chopped green chillies, chopped coriander powder, salt (according to taste),red chilli powder and blend dal in a mixer grinder. You need to make the mixture thick otherwise making vada will be difficult.Still if the mixture turns out to be thin in consistency then you can add 1tbsp. or more as required gram flour powder in it.

This is how the mixture will  look like

Few More recipes for you 🙂

      • actually dahi wada is not a bengal originated dish :-/ :-/ so there is no bengali variation….but my mom used to made this vadas with urad dal only (white color urad dal)and no moog dal mixed with that, after frying the vadas she used to dip them in hot water and all excess oil used to come out + vadas used to get soft, then transfer it to plate, put yogurt and all others…ho gaya :eat: :eat:

        • haan that is the easier version of the recipe …urad dal is little heavy for the stomach so i prefer adding the other dal also 🙂 otherwise one can make it with only one dal:)
