This is an instant paratha recipe which is quite filling and doesn’t require many ingredients.So when in doubt you can make this Paratha .Have it in your breakfast , lunch or dinner and it is quite a creative thing to do.
Here goes the recipe
Preparation and cooking-15 minutes
1 egg for 2 paratha(depends upon the filling)
1 chopped onion
1 chopped tomato(optional.I didn’t use this)
1 finely chopped green chillies(You can skip this if you like)
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder(According to taste)
1-2tsp grated cheese(any cheese will do but it should melt)
(You can omit it but if you add cheese then kids love it)
Oil to make the paratha
Usual parahat dough of wheat flour or all purpose flour
Step1-Take a bowl and addÂ eggs in it.
Step2-Add chopped onion, green chillies, grated cheese, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder in it.
Step3-Beat the mixture nicely and keep it aside.
Step4-Roll out usual ball size dough and make a ball of it.Dip it into the flour so that it doesn’t stick to the surface.
Step5-Make a small chapati and fold it forming a semi circle.Before folding the chapati apply oil onto it or ghee(clarified butter).(See video )
Step6-Now apply oil again on the semi circle and fold the chapati again forming a triangle.(Basically you are making a tikona paratha)
Step6-Roll out the small triangle and make it into a large one.
Step7-Place the triangle or tikona paratha on the tava and flip it once.
Step8-Wait for few seconds and open up the paratha gently with a knife.A pocket will be formed.
Step9-Pour in 2-3tsp or 1tbsp of egg batter in it and close it.
Step10-Let the paratha cook for 20 -30 seconds so that eggs get fried and flip it gently.If little batters come out then don’t worry.
Step11-Do not press the paratha like you do with usual paratha.Apply oil on the both side.
Egg pocket paratha is ready to be served.Taste great with chutney or ketchup.
