Today I am going to review two very popular brushes from the elf essential line. I am not much into eye makeup and stick to basic neural eye shadows. But when it comes to brushes we have very limited variety in India. I only have one eye shadow brush from Mac which the famous 217 but their extremely high prices keep me from getting more brushes. That is when I came across these two elf brushes.

My take on ELF Essential Blending and Eye Shadow Brushes:
Both these brushes come in a simple plastic packaging. They have a long white handle with their names written on it. The Blending brush is my absolute favorite as it is so multipurpose. It is dome shaped large fluffy brush with dark brown bristles, and is slightly dense hence perfect for blending. It blends out harsh edges of eye shadows effortlessly. I use it in many ways like for applying a light wash of color over the eyelids, setting my under eye concealer, contouring the sides of nose and of course blending eye shadows. It is truly a must have for me. The size of the brush head is just right I feel, it is not too large or small and will work well for most eye shapes.
The eye shadow brush is also quite good but I find it slightly smaller for patting eye shadows as a reason I have to go over a few times to pat the color on my eyelids. But becasue of the smaller size one can get precise application and it is also great for smaller eye shapes. It also works well for lightly smudging eyeliner and applying eye shadow on the lower lash line. The only thing is that the product shape and quality is not the same everytime. Like I have used their eye shadow brush before around two years back and the shape of that brush was quite different as far as I remember where as the bristles of this one are much shorter in comparison.
The handle of both the brushes is sturdy and fits well between the fingers. The bristles are soft and do not feel scratchy on the eye area at all. They are not as soft as comparison to other high end brushes like if you have used mac ones then you can definitely tell a difference but they are excellent for the price. There is slight shedding every time I wash them and also while using but that is not a major problem as the density of these brushes is still intact. I have both these brushes from around a year and use them on everyday basis, along with washing them often and they are still going strong and are very durable which is excellent for the price.
What I like about ELF Essential Blending and Eye Shadow Brushes:
- Very Inexpensive
- They are quite sturdy
- Feel comfortable to use
- Bristles are soft and do not hurt eye area
- Size and shape of both the brushes is good and will work for most eye shapes
- They both are very multi-purpose
What I don’t like about ELF Essential Blending and Eye Shadow Brushes:
- Even after washing so many times it still sheds little bit
- The quality and the shape is not same in all the brushes
- Not available in India
These brushes are absolute steal for the price, and whether you are a beginner or an expert in eye makeup these are must have for everyone. Especially when creating colorful eye makeup looks which requires using many different shades of eye shadows these come very handy so as we do not end up using the same brush for everything and keep the look clean and precise J) I am definitely getting a backup for both of these.
