ELF Studio Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems Review & Swatches

ELF Studio Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems

Hey all beauty geeks!!! Highlighters are my weakness. I am always in search for something that gives a radiant glow and does not have much sparkle to it. Don’t get the idea that I hate sparkles. I love the drama of a sparkly look, but it is reserved only for special night-outs. πŸ˜‰ I picked up the ELF Baked Highlighter in the latest haul and was hoping that it gives me a subtle glow that I so hope for. Baked products always fascinate me and I have never been disappointed by a baked product before. So, lets see whether the ELF Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems continued the home run for me or did I make a mistake in picking it up??? πŸ™‚

My take on ELF Studio Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems:

ELF Studio Baked Highlighter comes in three shades – Moonlight Pearls, Pink Diamonds and Blush Gems. Both Moonlight Pearls and Pink Diamonds appeared to have a cream and pink sheen to them, whereas Blush Gems seemed to be more on the champagne side. I picked up Blush Gems as it seemed to be the best for my skintone. Further, it also has been awarded at the OK magazine beauty awards. Does not hurt to get a winning product? πŸ˜‰

ELF Studio Baked Highlighters are baked in an oven to offer a soft and smooth finish. The highlighter in Blush Gems is a champagne color with a bit of gold tint. It has a frosty finish and does not look glittery. The highlighting effect is good and looks like a healthy sheen on the face. I generally use it dry, but can be used wet as well for a more dramatic effect. Just not on the face, the highlighter also looks equally beautiful as an eye shadow.

Texture: The highlighter has a smooth velvety texture. It is not at all powdery or chalky. Blends easily and does not look unnatural on the skin. Does not have glitter or sparkle. Yay!!!

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is amazing. The color looks gorgeous and has a beautiful sheen to it. Looks different at different angles (check out the swatch). Gives a natural, vibrant glow to the face, without making you like a disco ball. However, it is really hard to get product on the brush. I need to swipe the brush or the fingers very hard into the compact to get the highlighter on. May be this is intentional as lot of product in one swipe can make you look over the top.

Staying Power: Lasts for 4-5 hours.

Packaging: The baked highlighter comes in a plastic compact with a clear lid. The highlighters have a dome-shaped packing. The packaging is easy to use, but does not appear to be very sturdy.
