Hi anamika,

I’m thinking of doing the maroon/brown saree for the wedding. It has gold border and gold polka work all over the body. I was thinking maybe some copper/shimmery eyeshadow ? Not sure though. Would be good if you could recommend some brands too. I will need to buy them. The wedding is in december.

And the pink one – slightly less heavy for the reception. It has a sheer pallu and the rest of the saree is pink with again  – gold polka work

oh and I’m a NC40 in my MAC Studio Sculpt Spf 15 founation, if that helps you understand my skin tone !

waiting for your suggestions )
Hi Rupa,

You are a beauty with  brains

I too personally liked the brown maroon saree on you.It is trendy and I so loved the gold polka work on it.

As you said you are NC 40 so it will be more interesting for me to suggest you some eyemake up ideas.

You have bright sparkling eyes therefore I will suggest you to go with heavy eye make up and light brown lipstick shade with some sparkling gloss of Loreal which I recently reviewed.

Few eyeshadows which can work for you

Colorbar Eyeshadow Palette Warm 002Price : Rs 499

This one has nice subtle shimmer and you can experiment nicely with it colour

Coorbar Shimmer bar

This  is a dupe of Bobby brown shimmer brick bronze. This too has nice shimmer colours which you can wear in the marriage.

Mac sumptous olive eyeshadowwill match the saree colour beautifully with that you can use some brown eye shadow in the crease and shimmery white of colorbar shimmer bar as a highlighter. Even if you go only with MAC sumptous olive eyeshadow and some eyebrow highlighter it will look beautiful on your eyes

With this you can use Body shop lip and cheek stain .  This will add dash of shine to your cheeks.

In lipstick you can go for Revlon colurburst , Body shop sheer lip shine lipstick. Both are creamy and gives a nice texture.

Do you have any suggestion to give to Rupa ?

  1. Rupa, I cant give any advice about the eyeshadows I'm a beginner just started following Anamika's & few other beauty blogs but one thing that I can say for sure is you have very lovely bold eyes & you can accentuate them well to make them center of attraction at a party! & I guess in case you grow your hair, hairstyle with a lil bit of layers will suit you.

  2. Rupa you can also look for w faces I shine quartet which has golden and bronze colour in it.It is around 400 and will look nice with your sari.

  4. Oh, rupa you too are from hyd! Yep, anamika you should certainly go to mebaz, they have good clothes but lilttle expensive! I'm planning to buy some of my wedding clothes from there!

  5. Thank you Anamika and all you wonderful ladies for your suggestions. I will surely buy some of these eyeshadow and lipwear suggestions and share photos of the haul as well ;).

The first saree is from a shop in "old city" in Hyderabad, near the charminaar.

The second one is from this amazing shop called "Mebaz" (short for Meena Bazaar) in Lumbini mall on road no. 3 Banjara Hills,Hyderabad.

  7. You know Anamika, I have found this great tailor in Hyderabad, who actually comes to your house and picks up the material and delivers it back as well. He makes amazing blouses and will also get the material matching to the saree also if you don't have blouse material. I got some lovely gold brocade blouses made from him, very interesting cuts and he got the material himself. He does charge a bit extra but I am usually ok to pay that, given the convenience of home pick up and drop !

Will drop you an email with his details if you are interested.

  8. Just dropped you an email with the details. Yes he does suits also. He does alterations also. Waise give him just one or two things at first and see if you like his work. I've always been very happy with him.

    Enjoy !

  9. Mebaz is awesome. Try to hit it when they have a sale going on.

BTW, if you have time and energy on your hands, the old city (charminaar area) near laad bazaar is an awesome place to pick up sarees/materials for suits etc. They have great prices and much much cheaper than the designer stores, but that's where all the designers get their stuff from as well.

All the best for your wedding shopping !

  10. Hi Anamika,

I am a silent follower of this blog. I love reading about the reviews of various products. I am just starting to do some kind of makeup on myself.
Came across this post when searching for some references to a good tailor. I see Rupa had mentioned a tailor who picks and drops and does an amazing job. Can you please let me know the details of this tailor. Would like to try his work.

    THanks,
    Meenakshi
