Hello lovely ladies,
Hope you guys are enjoying the monsoons. I personally don’t really like the monsoons, the weather is so gloomy & our Indian roads already in a bad condition become worse, but it’s maintaining my skin that gives me the hardest time in this season. I have a combination towards oily skin type, which is prone to acne. My skin is easily prone to dullness & gets blemished even with the smallest of eruptions, so even a tiny pimple has to leave it’s proof. Inevitably I look for skin care products that would help me tackle the problem of dark spots & achieve an even skin tone.I have always preferred herbal skin care products over the chemical ones, not that the herbal products are completely chemical free yet they have a lower percentage of synthetic ingredients & a higher amount of natural ingredients. Himalaya is a reputed company, I have used many of their products with good results before. So I finally decided to pick up this scrub.
I bought this scrub sometime in may, used it twice & finally decided to keep it away till the rains. What made me take that decision, let’s find out in the review…

- Ingredients: actives –Each gm contains: Yashti(Glycyrrhiza glabra) Sarjaka(Vateria indica) Urumana(prunus armeniaca)
- Translation: Liquorice, White dammer & Apricot.
- Inactives:Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, propylparaben.
- Price & Quantity: Rs 70/- for 50 gms.
The scrub comes in a typical Himalaya herbals packaging, in a white tube with a green flip open cap, nothing special but convenient to handle & travel friendly. The scrub is off white in colour with tiny granules, it is very creamy & thick with a good amount of finely ground apricot granules. The fragrance of the scrub seems like a mix of talcum powder & an ayurvedic skin cream(this is the best I could describe it), but nothing overpowering or unbearable, it is mild & pleasant so sensitive noses should not have any problems.
My Experience with Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Scrub:
As you all know that this time the monsoons arrived as early as June(in Bangalore) I remembered that this scrub was lying in my drawer & it was the right time to start using it.
Though the scrub is thick it spreads evenly. It’s creamy texture softens the skin before exfoliation. The apricot granules are just the right size & amount, it’s neither too coarse & gritty nor too tiny or little. It does a smooth & effective job of scrubbing, does not give you any microscopic tears or redness. It is a gentle but an effective scrub, well suited for almost all skin types. Usually after scrubbing for 2 minutes I let it stay for a minute & then scrub again & wash off. After washing off my skin feels fresh & clean, I haven’t noticed & dryness or burning like other scrubs rather my skin is smooth to touch.
Coming to the whitening part, since it claims to reveal your natural fairness by regulating melanin synthesis, I haven’t noticed any such improvement with my acne marks or blemishes. It takes time to work on blackheads, I did not notice any significant improvement the first two times but with regular usage I got rid of them. But I am not complaining as it balances out my combination skin very well & managed to gently remove the blackheads without hurting . I have been using this scrub twice a week for almost 2 months & intend to use it till the summers until I find a better one. For the summers I prefer a gel based mattifying scrub. It would have been my HG scrub had it helped me combat the problem of dullness, unfortunately no such brightening effect.
This scrub would be most effective for dry skin all throughout the year, whereas combination & oily skin can skip it during the summers. It would not hurt acne prone skin as it is very mild.
TIP:Since it is quite thick it may be a little hard to get the product out as we use it up, but you can just put the tube in a mug of hot water to soften it.
What I like about Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Scrub:
- Suitable for all skin types
- Mild & effective scrub
- Very few chemicals
- Convenient &Â travel friendly
- Cost effective
- Gently removes blackheads.
What I don’t like about Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Scrub:
- Not very effective on blemishes & spots as claimed
- Did not help with my dullness
- Can be hard to squeeze out as it gets used up.
I would definitely recommend it for all the girls with dry skin, & the ones with combination & oily skin can give it a try during winters.
