Step 1– Begin with prepping the skin. Use makeup primer for long lasting makeup results. Dab on some concealer in the under eye area and tinted moisturizer of the face. I used Smashbox Photofinish Light Primer, Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer and Clinique All about eyes concealer over Garnier Ani Dark circles roll on (used as primer for concealer)

Step 2   -Apply liquid and cream blushes before powdering the face. This makes them melt into skin imparting desired color without looking patchy. Begin with the thinnest texture to the thickest texture. I blended Uplighting Illuminator on my cheek apples inwards towards the temples for subtle highlights

This is the amount  of  liquid blush I used

Step 2apply clinique uplighting illuminator

  •  Step3 – I applied the Rosy stick blush on the cheek bones to create gradation from highlight to rosy flush.

Step 4  – Sealed everything with powder for subtle highlights and mimic a glow from within.

Step 4 apply loose powder (Kryolan) to set the liquids

Step 5 – Dusted Rosy Honey hued bronzer in the hollows of the cheeks to give dimensions to the actual blush.

Step 5 Apply Stila Illuminating Finishing Powder

Step 6 – On the cheek bones dust a bright pink or fuschia colored blush. I used MAC Tippy LE but you can also use MAC Desert Rose, Pink Swoon, Dollymix or Plumfoolery depending on your skin color. MAC mineralize blush in  Gentle which is a part of the permanent line is amazing enough

Rosy glow on the face looks flattering and perks up dullness in the complexion of any form.
Applying blush is about layering so that the blush stays put for the entire day. Healthy glow or flush of color on the cheeks makes you feel happy all day long. In this step by step application you can omit a step if you want and modify your application technique. Darker the complexion more vivid should be the color choice.
Stay away from Rosy glow cheeks  if:
  • You have acne and lots of acne marks. The rosy pink will just make them look prominent
  • If you have lots of open pores as the highlighters will make pores appear more pronounced. You can use an exfoliator to unclog pores and then fill open pores with pore refining primer.
  •  If you have rosacea or portwine stain.

  3. Dr, which shade of the stila finishing powder hav u used here? does it work as an all over face powder as well or is it too shimmery?

  4. Wow, Doc! Awesome tutorial with very easy-to-follow instructions…

Can you please do a post on your skincare regime because…looking at your skin, the only word that comes to my mind id -FLAWLESS! :clap-n-jump:

  5. Neeraj ..tell me on thing …just curious to know ..can some one get the same rosy blush glow by using illuminator and cream blush only ?

  6. Sorry for the late late reply as I do not have access to internet at work or home. To achieve a rosy flush I prefer layering powder over cream to keep it long lasting. We tend to wipe our face and all and the blush disappears. Also good are cheek stains and cream blush. Also donot forget the climate!!

I will reply to all questions on monday and tuesday with another surprize article!!

  7. The illuminating finishing powder is the stila bronze. I have a rigid skin care regimen that I follow and my flawless complexion is god’s blessing and my determination!! I get philosophical.

@ Shreya and Nidhi…there is hope for everyone and you too. Opt for matte peach powder blush and then apply golden highlighter instead of rosy one. Makeup is for all and colors never discriminate. Please learn the art of concealing, it saves “lives” lol…

  8. wow dr neeraj such a great tutorial…..and the blush application is awsome…..
but like swati i also want to knw the skin care regimen of yours…….i wish to have a flawless skin like yours….plz do share ur secrets………

  9. U can use any product that u like. Its the result that matters. U can use a rosy cheek stain and go with illuminating moisturizer like MAC strobe cream or liquid illuminator like Becca ones.

  10. Hey Neeraj, i have the Stila illuminating finishing powder in rose gold…but i havent seen such a lovely glow after using it…wud u reccomend the bronze one over this?

    • i do luv it alot…but very honestly i dont use it too often..at work i tend to wear matte shades so as t not luk OTT..at my workplace makeup means lipgloss n kajal so i dont wana stand out pe se..hehe..Rose Gold is a gorgeous gorgeous shade..but i guess not as bright as the bronze one… :((
