How To Moisturize Acne Prone Skin
Nothing is a turndown than a skin with all possible blemishes and acne. The root cause for the acne and breakouts is threefold. It could be genetic; it could be cause of dirt sensitivity or may be because of excessive usage of oil-straining products. While genetic causes are more or less unbeatable, one can definitely try and control the sebum growth through various measures. If included in the daily routine, these methods can be entirely useful.
Dirt and pollution are major causes of acne as they block the pores of the skin leading to oil accumulation on the skin which leads to acne and breakouts. While we cannot fight the dirt, we could take care of our skin through better preventive measures like oil free face wash and exfoliation to prevent clogging.
I am suggesting here some natural measures which one could use and prevent acne and oily skin to hamper your daily routine and to keep your face oil and acne free.
Honey and cinnamon mask
Honey is your best buddy when you have an oily skin. It not only soothes your skin of redness due to acne but also leads to hydration that keeps your skin oil free. Making a mask with cinnamon helps in preventing acne to a great extent. Mix two tablespoons of honey with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and blend until they form a paste. Apply it for 10-15 minutes on your face and then rinse off. It will be a sticky mixture due to honey. Therefore ensure you use wet towels in ample quantity before you apply the mask.
Milk and honey
Take 1 tablespoon of milk (not low fat or skim milk) and add to it 1 tablespoon honey. Mix the two well and apply on your face in layers. Let one layer dry before applying another one. You may decide on the number of layers you would want to, usually 4-5 layers are recommended for a proper finesse to the mask and for effective results. Leave the pack for 10-15 minutes on your skin and then wash off. Use a wash cloth or normal cotton cloth to wipe the mask in circular motions after you wash off with water. This way you can remove the dead skin and do a bit of exfoliation as well to your skin.
Yoghurt and honey
The same pack as above can be modified to be used with yoghurt instead of milk to give the same results. Yoghurt is a better agent to prevent acne and has hydration properties that work wonder on human skin. Hence it is recommended to use normal low fat yoghurt that we easily can make in our homes for making acne or anti-oil masks.
Eggs are definitely a fight back to acne and oily skin. Use 2-3 egg whites (yolks are not good for oily skin). Beat them to form frothy liquid. Apply it on your face in layers. Usually 3-4 layers are considered good but you may increase or decrease in accordance to your acne breakout. Always let the first coat of egg mask dry before applying a second layer and so on. Let it be on your face for good 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and use a wash cloth to pat dry. Once you are done, moisturize your face to retain the hydration that the egg mask has landed on your face.
