We all know the importance of regularly scrubbing or exfoliating your skin. As today I’ll write about a DIY scrub recipe I simply want to re-iterate the importance the exfoliation in your skin care regime. We all know that as we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry. Furthermore, the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below thus helps keeping your complexion clean and clear. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy
Today the market is flooded with million products that will exfoliate your skin. Products that contain all harmful ingredients like plastics, irritating fragrances, glycerin, parabens, phthalates and other questionable chemicals. These commercially-prepared exfoliating scrubs can do a lot of damage to the delicate facial skin rather than doing some goodL. The good news is that safe scrubs are very easy to make at the comfort of your home, inexpensive, and are good for your skin too!

They can be used on face, body or (especially) feet for silky skin. You can add ingredients as per your choice for your desired outcome, and they take under ten minutes to make. Today I’ll talk about a super easy scrub recipe where the main ingredient is Rice Flour:
- 2 Tablespoon of Rice Flour.
- 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice.
- 1 Tablespoon of Milk.
Individual Beauty Benefits of each ingredient:
Bioactive compounds in rice flour have been widely used as antioxidants in skin care products. Rice flour contains phytic acid which exfoliates and increases blood flow to your skin. Rice powder, one of the main ingredients in high quality mineral makeup, has been used for hundreds of years in the pursuit of beauty. Since the 16th century, Japanese geishas have used rice powder to give a porcelain appearance to their skin. In ancient Indonesia, field workers applied a cream made from rice powder and water to their skin, in order to protect it from the sun. Thus Rice powder is an excellent remedy to get rid of stubborn tan.
Beauty Benefits of Lemon Juice:
Lemons’ antibacterial and antifungal properties make them a natural alternative to treat acne. They lighten dark spots and blemishes. Acne scars and marks are embarrassing and a pain to get rid of. Lemon juice’s citric acid gradually fades spots and evens your skin tone. The ascorbic acid or vitamin C present in lime juice acts as an antioxidant and this action helps to lighten the colour of the skin and also helps lighten dark spots due to ageing or sun burns.
Apart from providing endless health benefits, milk is an excellent beauty aid too, which enhances your beauty enormously and helps with lightening the colour of skin. The naturally occurring lactic acid found in milk is a beta hydroxyl which gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling soft and silky. It can also help even skin tone.
- First of all take 2 tablespoon of rice flour which is not very finely powdered. I generally use my grinder to make coarse powder of rice as the very fine powder will not serve the purpose of scrubbing.
- To it add 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Dry skinnies should add as per the intensity their skin can tolerate.
- Finally add 1 tablespoon of milk in it and mix it well.
- Bass ho gaya 🙂
Take a small amount of the scrub and carefully massage into your face and neck using circular movements. Avoid getting the scrub on the area around your eyes and lips. Scrub it for 4-5 minutes and then wash it off with warm water and pat dry.
