How To Turn A Lipstick Into A Lip Gloss
Every lady at some point of time has had her favorite lipstick finished and she could not any longer wear that amazing shade, or has got her favorite lipstick broken and now she feels shattered about the fact that she cannot any longer have her favorite shade on her pout.
Well in such cases you only think of dumping your favorite lippies and sobbing over the loss. Well how about if you can still have your favorite shade with the same old good for nothing lipstick. That’s because it is still good for something, you can make a lip gloss out of it.
Though the lip gloss will be a little lighter version of the shade but still you will get to use your favorite shade and who does not like those glossy shiny lips.
Read on to know how to make a lips gloss from a lipstick.
Things you will need:
- Some left over lipstick
- Small Empty Cosmetic Box/Jar.
- Petroleum Jelly.
- Honey (Optional).
- Essential Oil.
- Microwave bowl, preferably a glass microwave bowl.
Spoon some petroleum jelly in the microwave bowl. Use as much of petroleum jelly as much you want. The more is the Petroleum Jelly, the more is the resultant quantity of gloss.
Now scrape every bit of the lipstick from the lipstick tube with the help of a tooth pick. Try and get every bit of the lipstick and put it in the bowl which already has Petroleum Jelly in it.
Place the bowl in microwave and microwave it for 30 seconds on high. Take the bowl out of the microwave and give it a stir. If the jelly is still clumpy, then microwave it again until it reaches a smooth and runny consistency.
At this step you can add flavor or fragrance to your lip gloss. Add in few drops of your favorite essential oil or extract for the flavor or fragrance. Make sure that whatever you add is edible.
This is an optional step. If you desire to make your gloss even shinier and sweet in taste, add a spoonful of honey to the mixture. Since honey has antibacterial and moisturizing properties, it’s also great for conditioning your lips and keeping them from drying out.
Avoid using any other type of sweetener as it may not allow your gloss to last for long as other artificial sweetener are spoilt over a given period of time.
Stir everything well so that all the ingredients are mixed thoroughly. At this step you can add in more of honey or essential oil if desired. Mix them together till the mixture is smooth.
Now pour the gloss mixture into a small cosmetic jar/box. You can make your jar cute with some girly makeup stickers.
Allow the gloss mixture to set at room temperature or put it in the refrigerator to let it cool down. Don’t use the gloss till the time it is runny, allow it to set before usage. This lip gloss will stay little soft, so the easiest way to apply it is with your finger or with a lip brush.
This was all. Wasn’t it easy!
An additional tip, if you want to add some glitter to your gloss, then at Step 3 you can also add non toxic glitter.
So next time when you are about to dump a lipstick think about making a gloss out of it.
