Hi Guys!!!
First of all thank you so much for liking my mehndi design.Mehndi is a big craze in India and I find mehndi shops flooded with customers who wants to apply mehndi design on their hand on special occasions or festivals.

Below are some of the design of mehndi which I got after googling.

Above pics do need some amount of training but for a normal looking mehndi design one doesn’t need any professional expertise.I was able to apply mehndi after 2-3 time of practice.I first started practicing on steel plates.I use to design on them in my free time.

Now my neighbour comes and ask me to design on their hands:).Feel great no:)

Those of wise she readers who are living abroad do not have to be sad about the unavailability of the mehndi cones or the mehndi shops .You can make your own cone a at home this way:-

Ingredients required are:-

Heena powder

Tamarind powder

Tea powder

>Eucalyptus oil

So lets start:-

Fist sieve the henna powder in a thin muslin cloth to get a fine powder(This is must) .Soak ½ cup of tamarind paste in 2 cups of water for 2-3 hours.Boil the water and while boiling add 2tsp. Of tea powder and half teaspoon of sugar in it.Boil it until it reduces to ¾ cup of the whole quantity.

Let the water get cool and drain it in a muslin cloth which is folded in 2-3 layers.Make sure you do not see any particles in tamarind tea decotion which might block the fine tip of the cone.

To make the paste take an air tight container and add 10 tbsp of sieved henna.Mix 3 tbsp of eucalyptus oil and mix it nicely to avoid any lumps. Now add 5 tbsp of tamarind tea decotion and mix it nicely again. The consistency of paste should be tooth paste like.Close the lid of the air tight container and leave it for 2-3 hours.

Make a cone and then open the lid to check the consistency of the paste. If you think it is soft then add few drops of tea tamarind deotion.Put the paste in the cone and seal them.

Yes it is time consuming but once one get into practice it doesn’t take much time. Those who can get the mehndi cones easily in the market can buy that too.I find them pretty good. The color too comes out nicely.

Below are some tips and guidelines to follow when you apply mehndi at home.

If you are interested in creating your own design then start with basics.Even after practicing I can not design without taking ideas from the books or net.

If you see in the below picture first the outline of a design has been made and then the design has been developed .

By practicing these designs one can easily get the hold of it.

2.Take a small cup , Squeeze in half lime and add 3/4 spoon of sugar to it.Apply this sugar syrup on the mehndi design with a cotton. This will bring out the color of the mehndi.
3.Mehndi should be kept for two hours at least and then removed with mustard oil.Avoid water on it for 10-12 hours to bring out the best color from the mehndi.

Hope you guys will try it out and have fun with mehndi:)
