Sabu daana kichdi is quite famous in India.Every one has her own version of recipe for it.In north India people generally do not prefer adding coconut into it.Here is the sabu daana recipe without coconut.It is spicy but has sweet and sour taste also into it.Great to have it as a evening snack with tea.It is an ideal treat if one is fasting.You won’t feel hungry after having one bowl of it.

Ingredients:Serves 2-3

1 cup Sabudaana
2 boiled potato
Roasted peanuts (I don’t like using too much of it so used just a hand full)
Oil 1tbsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds (jeera) 1 tsp
2 green chillies chopped
Curry leaves 1 strand
Sugar 1 tea spn
Red chilli powder 1/2tsp
Lemon juice 1 tbl spn (or as per taste)
Salt to taste(you can use vrat namak if you are on fast)

Method:

Step1:Wash 1 cup sabu daana in water and soak it over night (approx 8-9 hours)

Step 2:Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, when it starts popping, add the jeera, green chillies and curry leaves.

Step 3:Add the roasted peanut.You can grind the pea nut into small pieces if you want.
Step4:Add the cubed boiled potatoes, salt, sugar and mix well .

Step5:Add the sabudana, mix well and cook on low flame for 5mins.

Step6:Squeeze in a lemon juice and serve
