Khadi Manav Herbal Aloevera Glowing Pack Review & Goof Up

I got this from Stylecraze while trying to procure Khadi Aloevera glowing pack. There was some mix up since this has a similar name but is not the one I was looking for. First of all, I’m thoroughly confused about the name of this brand. It says “Khadi” at the top of the box, “Manav Herbal” in the middle, “Aloxy” on the tub, and “Nandini” on the lid of the tub!! ?:-) ?:-) When I browsed their website, it turns out that the one that was ordered and the one that was delivered are exactly the same product from the same brand with different packaging.

My take on the Ingredients of Khadi Manav Herbal Aloevera Glowing Pack :-

Don’t you find the ingredients list a bit strange?? I mean “I” did! That’s why I’ve devoted a whole section to discuss it. For starters, each ingredient is not listed in the order of their quantity, as is the norm. That is, the ingredient present in the highest quantity is listed 1st, followed by the second highest and so on. So, in this case, Kaolinum should be mentioned 1st, followed by mineral oil and so on. By the way, such a high percentage of oil?? 😯 And what’s with all the wax?? I know Aloe vera…but aloevera tourn?? Turns out it’s just the Latin name for Aloe vera :-P. I’ve also never heard of Sodii biboras. So I looked it up as well. Apparently, its English name is Borax and its other common names are Suhaga/Tinkal/Tankar/Tinkar and so on. Funny names :giggle: Its uses are even funnier. Take a look:

It is an antacid, antiseptic, astringent, diuretic and emmenagogue. Useful in loss of appetite, painful dyspepsia, cough, asthma and diarrhoea. Also useful in amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, menorrhoea, puerperal convulsions and to promote uterine pains during labour. As an antiseptic, it destroys low vegetable organisms, hence given in fetid stools of diarrhoea in children. Externally borax is applied with honey in aphthae or thrush and soreness of mouth or throat to parasitic stomatitis and to cracked tongue. In hoarseness of the throat it is applied with benefit also in ulceration of mouth, fissures or cracks in the tongue in adults, which occur in the advanced stages of consumption, fever, etc.

Phew!! Did u sleep halfway through that paragraph??  If u did, the only thing you missed is that this Sodii thingy does nothing for the skin! So what’s it doing in here?? Probably to keep the other ingredients company I suppose :-/ But yeah…there is “astringent” mentioned somewhere there so it could be that 😀

  • Directions: Apply a thin layer of pack all over the face avoiding the eye area. Let it dry and wash with clean water.
  • Packaging:Appearance-wise, the packaging is quite dull and boring but it is nice and user friendly. It comes in a pale green plastic tub that comes in an outer carton. The mouth of the tub is sealed with foil. When you remove the foil, there is another plastic sheet tightly covering the mouth that has to be ripped open. So we can rest assured that the product is fresh and untouched. Since it comes with a screw-top lid, there’s no question of leakage and it is quite travel-friendly. Some may not like the fact that this comes in a tub. But I’ve learnt through experience that tubs are easier to use and there’s no wastage as opposed to tubes where you have to wrestle with them to get the product out. Also, you never know how much product is left in a tube and you’ll invariably end up wasting some amount of product (unless you snip the end of the tube of course).

  • Color & Consistency:Since I saw the word “aloe vera”, I was expecting this to be a fresh green gel pack. I completely overlooked the fact that it has clay and calamine. So, I was pretty surprised to find a white, creamy, clay pack when I opened it. The consistency is similar to most clay packs. It is thick yet creamy and spreads easily.
  • Fragrance:-This smells like….umm…a salon! Yeah, that’s first thing that came to my mind! 😛 You know how these parlors have this err…powdery, lotion-y kinda aroma?? Okay, I know I’m not making any sense  It is a very pleasant fragrance that resembles a herbal talc. It could almost be described floral and it doesn’t bother me at all. But it isn’t too mild so I’m not sure if very sensitive noses can tolerate it.

My experience with Khadi Manav Herbal Aloevera Glowing Pack:

I can’t fathom dipping my fingers into the tub and getting product into my nails. So, what I do is, I dip a clean and dry face pack brush directly into the tub and apply. Since, it is specified that a thin layer should be applied, the brush helps to give a more even application. It does sting a teeny-weeny bit but that’s just because my skin is quite sensitive and almost all packs tend to do that to me. Plus, it also indicates that the ingredients are at work so I really don’t mind. Like I’d mentioned earlier, it spreads easily and is not goopy or lumpy. It dries within 10 minutes and that’s a huge relief for those who are pressed for time. Like most clay masks, it dries to thin, powdery film and is really easy to remove. It comes off easily and there’s no vigorous scrubbing required. Once the pack is washed off and skin is patted dry, my skin felt soft and smooth. What surprised me most was that this pack considerably reduces pore-size. I used this almost every alternate day and within just 2 uses noticed a difference in my skin. It looked more even-toned, healthier and almost pore-less. I began to wonder if it was just the pack or the skin creams I had begun to use. So I gave the creams a break and continued using the pack on alternate nights. I start out by using the Lotus Kiwi & Grapes Skin Polisher and then apply this. I don’t follow-up with a moisturizer and go straight to bed bare-faced…but with lip balm of course ;-). In the morning, I wake up to soft skin that looks nourished and taut. I’m pretty impressed since I was expecting this to break me out considering all the oil and wax in the list of ingredients. But it did not irritate my skin and I’m really happy with the results.
