Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen Review

Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen

Hello beautiful faces how are you all? Now a days sun rays are at their full intensity and in coming days they are going to be stronger, harsher and thus more harmful as well. As per Google the immediate danger of too much sun is sunburn and tanning. With repeated sun damage, the skin starts to look dry, wrinkled, discolored and damaged. Although the skin appears to be thicker, it actually has been weakened and, as a result, it will bruise more easily. But protection from sunburn is not the most important reason for wearing sunscreen. You want to reduce damage from the sun. Your skin can be harmed by constant sun exposure, whether or not you see a burn. Remember, sunburn is an immediate reaction, but damage from the sun occurs over a lifetime so you can now understand how important is to wear sunscreen daily on your skin to stay protected.

Price: Rs.500/-.You can buy from  flipkart here

Quantity: 30 ml.

Packaging: This sunscreen comes in plastic opaque pumped packaging with a golden cap. I personally feel that this packaging looks like a rocket toy which we used to play-with during our childhood days 😛

Texture and smell: This sunscreen has a creamy consistency white in colour and has a subtle fruity smell which is not overpowering and disappears soon after usage.

My experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen:

This sunscreen claims to contain 50 PA+++ Mattifying SPF for broad spectrum which sounds really tempting and interesting. The main problem with the girls with oily skin is that sunscreens make their skin oilier post usage and cause more sweat.

However in this front this sunscreen is a winner first of all it doesn’t feel oily and glides easily without leaving any greasy residue and help keeping my skin matte for 2-3 hours at the most.

It protects my skin well from tanning however I don’t know why they classify under 9 to 5 tag because I feel an urge to re-apply it every 3-4 hours so that it can protect my skin well. I am liking it but am not head over heels in love with this product.

What I like about Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen:

  • Contains 50 PA+++ SPF with Mattifying effects.
  • Glides easily, feather light formula.
  • Pleasant smell.
  • Pump packaging is easy to use and one can have better control over the amount of product.
  • I need small amount of product every time to use.

What I don’t like about Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen:

  • Have to massage it on the face so that it can be absorbed easily by the skin.
  • Needs frequent re-application.

Rating: 4/5.

Shall I repurchase it?

I don’t think that it will be over in near future looking at the tiny amount I need every time to use and may be by that time I’ll discover some better sunscreen for me.

Shall I recommend it to you? Yes I do.

    • Hey Pranali, If u do not mind can u pls suggest me few physical sunscreens for my oily skin. As I have tried many chemical sunscreens but have sensitive skin and no matter what I always get slightly burned and eventually tan, thanks in advance :))

      • Hi neetu.. The best physical sunscreen is from the brand Badgers. If you are not able to get badgers then Neutrogena sunblock is the best bet..

      • Hi Neetu,
There are only 2 physical sunscreens Titanium dioxide & Zinc Oxide. Titanium Dioxide is not broad spectrum (no protection against UVA 2) but Zinc Oxide is. Zinc Oxide protects against both UVA 1, UVA 2, & UVB rays. Since I m also searching for physical sunscreens based product, so I came across a few of d brands in India which I m sharing with u.
        1. Aromamagic All Natural Mineral Line Sunscreens (newly launched) has 5 sunscreens, all containing only Zinc Oxide as UV filter.
        Carrot Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15
Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel SPF 20
        Cucumber Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30
Sunblock Lotion SPF 30 PA ++
        Sunlite Spray SPF 30 ++
        2. VLCC Matt Look Sunscreen spf 30 PA +++ (Zinc Oxide 4%)
        3. Lakme Sun Expert UV Lotion spf 50 PA +++ and
Lakme 9 to 5 Super sunscreen spf 50 (d one reviewed above), both hv Zinc Oxide & 1 chemical sunscreen – Octyl Methoxy Cinnamate.
But both need a bit of work to blend in & leave a white cast.
        4. Calak Lotion by Shalaks Pharmaceuticals contains 5% Zinc Oxide which is more than spf 30, but is slightly pink on face like Lacto Calamine lotion (again contains Zinc Oxide. percentage not mentioned, not really a sunscreen but moisturiser). If nothing suits, u can simply use Calak Lotion.

I hope this helps. U can check d reviews for these products on beauty blogs.
        take care 🙂

  1. The high SPF makes it incredibly tempting for someone with a sun allergy. I am certainly going to pick this one up once my L’Oreal one finishes… 🙂
