Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation Review

Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation Review

Hi Sweethearts,

Today I am back with a review of another recently launched foundation range by Lakme Absolute. As you guys may be aware of the craze serum foundation has created all over the world. Every brand now is coming up with their own serum oil foundation range. When I saw Lakme has come up with their argan oil serum foundation I really wanted to lay my hands on those. I have been using this foundation for a week now, and tested it both indoors and outdoors. So check out my review below and find if it is actually worth the hype.

About Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation

Shades: Available in 6 shades, Ivory Cream, Rose Silk, Silk Golden, Honey Dew, Natural Light, Natural Almond.

Lakme argan oil foundation

Price: Rs 750 for 15 ml.

Packaging: It comes in a fancy yellow golden plastic bottle packaging with a pump dispenser, looks absolutely stunning. More than argan oil, it was the packaging which attracted me more. It is convenient to carry it while travelling. The pump dispenser works really well and dispenses adequate quantity without wasting much product. I require two pumps for my full face.

Shade: It comes in 6 shades. I picked up the shade Honey Dew which has enough yellow and orangish tones, for your reference it would be equivalent to Mac NC 42 in studio fix range. Natural light will also suit medium skin tone if you do not require yellowish tint and have neutral complexion.

Texture: It feels lightweight and has a luxurious feel to it. Moreover it sits comfortably on my skin for whole day long and makes my face velvety soft. The foundation blends nicely, but I would advise not to pick up loads of quantity with first usage. Take little amount and apply as much required.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation

After reading the fancy description given by Lakme, I was tempted enough to grab this soon. It has just 15 ml of the product for Rs 750. I found it overpriced, but I thought to give this a try. It was confusing to choose the shade online so went to a store and got it. Hence I checked all the shades and got the shade Honey Dew for me. The SA was pushing me to get it in the shade Natural Light but I felt that will suit someone with neutral tones, thus I bought this after checking it on my jawline.

Finish: It has liquid consistency, it is quite runny and blends into my skin nicely when taken in less quantity. It gets really difficult to blend when more quantity is taken. This foundation sets within seconds so one has to be really quick in blending it to prevent harsh streaks. I would advise you to dot an area, quickly blend it and again dot another area and proceed. If you dot whole area and then blend, it would result into an uneven application, as it sets in a jiffy. I have used this foundation under a primer and also under a serum. Please use any hydrating serum or moisturiser before applying it.

After using it for week, I feel whatever tool like sponge or brush or finger tips you use to blend it, it has the tendency to cling to your pores and highlight it. From a distance it is not visible but in your mirror you can clearly visualise how it is accentuating the pores more than ever. I won’t advise to someone with large pores and dry patchy skin. Over a serum and a hydrating primer, it worked really well. Under lakme primer, I did not like the effect, It was drying and makeup looked cakey. It has spf 45, so it gives some scary ghastly white cast in flashlight pictures.

Coverage: For light to medium coverage, I apply single layer. For medium coverage, I go for second layer. It feels dewy and hydrated but within seconds sets into semi matte finish. It blurs redness quite well, however does not cover dark circles effectively.

Staying Power: It stays on me for 4-5 hours easily without touch up. But it has a great tendency to transfer to the screen of my smartphone. After I ended the call, when I saw my smartphone I was shocked, whole lot of foundation had transferred onto the screen. It will melt easily in summers.

What I love about Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation?

  • Fancy attractive packaging, travel friendly as well.
  • Pump dispenser which dispenses adequate amount without wastage.
  • It has 6 shades to cater to various Indian skin tones.
  • Makes my skin velvety soft and feels luxurious.
  • Has strong fragrance, I kind of loved it, reminded me of a perfume.
  • Contains argan oil serum which is beneficial for our skin.
  • Gives light to medium coverage and is buildable.
  • Contains spf 45, so you can skip your sunscreen easily.

What I didn’t like about Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation?

  • It contains just 15 ml of the product for Rs 750.
  • Nowhere ingredient list is mentioned in the packaging.
  • Foundation transfers a lot, will melt in summers.
  • Foundation clings to pores and accentuates your imperfections more than ever.
  • It sets within seconds so one needs to be quick to avoid streaks.
  • It is not fragrance free, may not go well with all.
  • No shades for people with skintone above NC 43.5
  • It gives horrible white cast in flashlight pictures.
  • After using 3 to 4 consecutive days, there was a breakout.

Final Impressions: I really had very high hopes from this foundation but am quite disappointed. This fancy argan oil serum foundation is just a marketing gimmick to lure people. Well, has nothing special for which you should be thinking of getting it in your vanity. It has lots of cons than pros I feel. It is surely not a must have foundation, you can easily skip it. However just to experiment with a serum foundation and for its uber classy packaging, you can think of trying it.

Rating: 3 out of 5

  1. Mujhy bhi ye jarur lena hai, dekho kab tak buy karti hu
Argan oil se related sabhi products mujhy attract karty hain aur ye to lakme bhi hai

    • Absolutely, this is not non comedogenic, feels luxurious initially but accentuates pores and gives zits, not horrible breakout though
