Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi Definition Matte Lipstick ‘Plum Spell’
Today I am back with a review on one of my favorite red lipsticks launched by Lakme in their studio sculpt matte range of lipsticks. This shade is also being sported by Kareena Kapoor in her recent ad for studio sculpt range of Lakme lipsticks. However, I feel this shade looks quite different on her than it looks in real life. So head over to my review and check the swatches and decide for yourself if guys you liked it.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Sculpt Lipstick ‘Plum Spell’
Packaging- These lipsticks come in silver grey plastic casing with twist up mechanism. Packaging seems sturdy and has a see through cap, which makes it easy to identify the shades. Shade name is printed at the bottom of the lipstick casing and other information is printed about this range of lipstick on the outer carton. It is almost similar to the packaging of glossy addict lipsticks from Lakme.
Shade- Plum Spell is a red shade with burgundy tones that suits my NC 42 skin tone but I feel it will suit matured skin tone better. It is a damn bold shade and many might find it quite scary to wear. If you like sheer reds then I would not suggest this shade for you guys. However, if you are looking for a bold deep red lipstick with burgundy tones, then go ahead, you will love using it every day. It looks very similar to crimson touch and burgundy affair from the same range but the latter shades are deeper than plum spell. You can pick anyone of these three shades. All three shades look quite similar just the undertone is different.
Pigmentation & Coverage- Most of the darker shades from the range are intensely pigmented and opaque coverage can be achieved with those. However, few lighter shades need to swiped multiple times for even complete coverage. Plum spell is richly pigmented and I need to swipe twice for achieving nearly complete coverage.
Texture & Finish- All the lipsticks from this range feel sheer on initial application but can be built up to nearly opaque coverage with 2-3 swipes. Lipstick feels creamy initially and settles into semi matte finish which becomes completely matte within 10-15 minutes of application. With time, shade looks better and bold with velvety matte finish. These are neither hydrating nor drying and feel feather light on lips. It does not make my lips dry or chapped like other matte lipsticks.
Staying Power- I wore this lipstick at 8 in the morning and it stayed on my lips for nearly 4-5 hours easily, it fades leaving a deep mauve red tint that stays for couple of hours more. It is not transfer proof and can leave stains on cups after a meal. After a meal, even after getting transferred a lot, it had left deep stain on my lips which survived for a long time. Though it sets easily it can survive light meals.

Overall Thoughts:Â I am really impressed with the formula of these studio sculpt matte lipsticks. These are way better than other matte lipsticks from 9 to 5 range or from absolute range. It imparts complete matte coverage and stays on for a long time. It feels creamy matte initially but settles to complete matte finish within 10- 15 minutes. It can be bit drying but does not result in chapped lips. Many shades from this range are quite similar so guys check swatches at stores and pick your favorite shades.
