I must say Lakme has really worked great this time with their new Absolute gloss range inclusive of both skin care and lipsticks, I have done a swatch post on their Gloss addict lippies range and by that you all will easily make out why I am saying so.

Price: Rs.599 for 50gm.

Shelf Life: 24 months.

My experience with Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Overnight Mask :

Texture: The mask has got a light creamy colored gel like consistency. It is absolutely colorless when applied. The gel does not feel heavy or sticky at all. The texture is really smooth and one can feel the softness immediately after the product is absorbed in.

Packaging: The overnight mask comes in a black plastic tube with hints of metallic icy blue color and a screw cap which shuts perfectly. The tub comes in a silver carton box with all the necessary details mentioned. As I opened the box for the first time I really found this tiny tub sitting in the box really cute.

My Experience: Well well well, first of all let me tell you all that the only reason behind its purchase was the innovative concept of an overnight leave on mask. But after using it I realized it’s more or less only a night gel. If I may say so, I felt the overnight mask concept was a marketing gimmick just to roll up the sales (this is my personal point of view).

The gel has a weird smell, kind of masculine fragrance which I don’t like at all. I have sensed a similar smell in oriflame’s optimals white peel off mask.

I have been using this night gel regularly for more than ten days now and I can say that this is really a good product to try. I have dry skin and every night after cleansing my face I use this. Though it is a gel but it really hydrates my skin thoroughly well. Only a small quantity is required to cover the whole face and the gel is easily absorbed. Post the product is absorbed I find my skin really soft to touch and adds a healthy glow to my face. It does not make my skin oily; instead it gives my skin the much needed hydration. Every morning I wake up with a dewy looking skin.

But the sad part is after washing off my face I can see that the dewy look is gone and my skin is back with the dry feel, though not severely dry as earlier but I really wish the results were more permanent. I guess using the whole gloss serum and day crème will sort the dryness problem. I have sensitive skin and at the same time I don’t suffer from open pores issue so the silicone content in the product does not bother me in any way and this product did not break me out or gave any allergic reaction.

In all the product is a must try for dry and combination skinned girls. Oily skinned girls may also give it a shot, since the gel is not heavy.

What I like about Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Overnight Mask:

  • The cute packaging.
  • Hydrates well without making skin oily.
  • Makes skin smooth.
  • Gives a healthy glow.
  • Less quantity is required, so the product will last easily for a minimum of two months with regular usage.
  • Non heavy and non sticky texture.
  • Easily absorbs into the skin.

What I don’t like about Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Overnight Mask:

  • The glossy finish is temporary.
  • Some may find it expensive.
  • Loaded with chemicals and silicone may be a problem for open pores.
  • Unpleasant smell.

  1. Nice review Ritika!!! Were you reading my mind, i just wanted a review of all these 3 products- the serum, gel creme n overnight mask!!!
If u were given an option to repurchase it, wud u? I m asking cuz i am too dicey abt getting this!!!

    • loll… so i guess i savd u the money of the overnight gel…. as far as my repurchase option is considered, i shall use it for another ten days before landing at a judgement, coz as of now all i have seen is a little softness in my skin and some temporary gloss affect by the product… will dfntly come with an answer ten dayz later 🙂

    • hey neha… though its ammktg gimmick, but this product works decently well as an overnight gel… i wud still say, if u dont have a perfect night care ritual, then u can give it a shot (considering u dont have an open pore issue).

      • I have a few open pores that is why I am glad I read your review before buying it, my skin is very oily and sometimes even the gel meant for oily skin makes me chip chip 🙁

    • thank you so much Maitri… i too wanted the serum …. but then i went skeptical aftr using overnight mask

  2. nicely reviewed ritika…i wanted to try the serum from this range…!!!…does it have the same cons??Any idea??!!

    • Thanks madhu…. since i have not used the serum so i can not be very firm about it.. but i went through the ingredient list of the serum and i find it to be similar with slight variatons, like both the products have silicon and alcohol denat , so they’ll have similar cons … but am sure that the serum would do a slightly better job than this mask, PEG-40 castor oil being the reason behind it(though it is dangerous wen used on its own, i read it sumwer) ..

    • seriously Ruhee, they ruined my excitement for the product, atleast Lakme could have been truthful by not fooling us with such bluffs

    • I hve dry skin,,, d prdct did nothing much for my skin even after continue usage… all it gives is some temporaty gloss effect.
      .
i wud rather suggest you to invest this much money in a better night cream because during winters your skin will need nourishment more than the temporary gloss effect.

  3. My age is 22.i m using L’Oreal laser treatment overnight cream..this one for 30s..i want to try this product..is it suitable to my age..
