Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
Hey all beauty geeks!!! Today I am going to review Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. Thanks to all the Korean beauty gems, our skin care is also getting more advanced and lengthy. Earlier the skin care pundits would only talk about CTM, however, now products like serums, essences and sleeping masks are also finding their way in to the daily skin care routine. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is one of the most popular sleeping masks and is considered as HG by many.
Lets check out was it able to impress me as well? 😉

My take on Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:
Sleeping Masks are supposed to be used as the last step in your night-time skin care routine. These are more moisturizing than night creams and need to be washed off in the morning. There are various kinds of sleeping masks, ranging from thick creams to watery gels. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask belongs to the latter category.
I use Laneige Water Sleeping Mask every other day as the finishing step at night. Though the instructions say to apply it immediately after toner and emulsion, I apply my night cream as well before I apply the sleeping mask. The mask has a flowery smell that fades away after some time. You will feel the mask to be slightly tacky for 10-15 minutes after the application. So, it is advisable not to immediately lie down after the application. Once the mask is fully absorbed, it feels soft and not at all greasy or oily. Now, you can relax and sleep peacefully!!!
Texture: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is an icy blue-colored gel. Though it looks a bit dense in the container, it melts instantly on the skin and becomes thin and watery. It gives a very refreshing and cool feeling. Goes on smoothly and gets absorbed completely in 10-15 minutes. Till that time, your face will be shiny and tacky to touch.
My experience: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is a wonderful add-on to my anti-ageing night routine. It adds a bit of hydration and glow to my face in the morning. However, it does not do anything magical which my night creams are not able to do. It is not as hydrating as it is touted to be. I will advise you to use an oil-based moisturizer underneath to get the best effects possible. I love the scent and the refreshed feeling on using the mask. However, since I already give a lot of attention to moisturizing and hydrating my skin, this mask does not add any special benefit to my ritual.
Packaging: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask comes in a pale blue tub with a screw-cap. There is a spatula provided to take out the mask, though you need to wash the spatula as well to avoid any contamination.
What I love about Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:
- Gel-like consistency.
- Gives a cool and refreshed feeling.
- Gives a bit of glow and moisture to the skin.
- May add lots of moisture when thick creams do not penetrate.
- Need to apply little.
- Does not cause any breakouts.
- Not at all greasy or oily.
What I do not love about Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:
- Nothing extra special about the mask.
- Strong floral fragrance.
- Limited availability.
Final Impression: Though Laneige Water Sleeping Mask has a strong following, I was not very impressed by it. The mask is a good way to add moisture and glow to your skin. However, it is just an add-on and can’t replace your night creams and beauty oils. Recommended if you are still not satisfied with your night cream!!!
