L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Exfoliate & Refining Mask Review
When L’Oreal launched pure clay mask in India couple of months back, I was damn excited. Though price was a dampener still I picked up the red algae refining variant. In India, L’Oreal has launched two versions: refining (reddish brown) and mattifying (light greenish) ones. They did not launch the charcoal based detox pack in India. India has humid weather rather the detox pack would have catered to the needs of majority of people. Anyway please go through my review and check if it should be tried at this price tag.

My Overall Experience: L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Exfoliate & Refining Mask:-
When I visited L’Oreal store the SA advised me to try both the variants, she was suggesting me to do multi-masking. In case you have checked recent face masks from body shop, you would understand about multi-masking. Red algae refined mask can be applied on T zone area and mattifying one on cheeks. I found these masks quite heavily priced for the quantity provided and also did not how it would fare on my combination skin type. So I ended up buying the exfoliate and refining red algal mask variant.
Packaging: Masque comes in a glass tub packaging with a light green screw on cap. It also has a separator to keep product intact and minimise wastage and spillage of the product. It is housed in a carton which has loads of information regarding the masque including ingredient lists, benefits, type of clays used. I have picked up the red algae refining mask.
Texture and Consistency: L’Oreal Masque is very soft and has gooey mousse like texture. Despite being a clay masque, it is not thick and spreads on my skin easily. You need not dilute it or apply on wet skin. I use a spatula to scoop out the product and use it after cleansing my face. As it’s the exfoliating variant so it has some fine granules present in it which helps exfoliating skin without stripping oil or being abrasive on skin surface.
Effectiveness: L’Oreal has suggested using this mask thrice a week. I feel that would be over drying for my skin. I never use mask more than twice on my skin in a week especially when the mask is clay based. One can use sheet masks more often due to their hydrating nature. Refining and exfoliating mask is reddish brown in colour with fine granules. It contains volcanic rock, clays and red algae. It has an exotic fragrance which gives a spa like experience. It spreads easily and feels soothing on skin. It has slight tingling sensation on skin, which marks the potency of the mask. I keep it for good half an hour and wash it off with cold water. The granules present in the masque help in scrubbing away dirt, oiliness, flakiness and skin feels well exfoliated. But I could not see any significant effect on whiteheads or blackheads howsoever. With repeated use my skin looks even toned, it removes temporary tanning. It also makes my skin quite smooth, pores visibly look smaller. Compared to other clay based masks this is way better, but considering the price tag I was expecting long lasting results and more quantity.
Availability: Easily available at L’Oreal stores and online.

My Overall Recommendation: If price is not a dampening factor for you like in my case, go for it. I wish these were priced below Rs 500 but still it is one of the best clay based mask, I have ever used. It helps in temporary tan removal and improves appearance of skin with one or two usage.
