L’oreal Youth Code Luminize Day Cream

I reviewed the L’Oreal Youth Code Luminize Serum a few days back. If you haven’t read it already, click here to do so. Usually anti-ageing serums work best when used along with the corresponding day/night cream. I picked this day cream from the same Youth Code range and have been using it in tandem with the serum.

My experience with L’Oreal Youth Code Luminize Moisturizing Day Cream:-

This comes in a tub form which is a bit irritating since you have to keep dipping in…more so if you have long nails…I wish I could say that I’m super hygiene conscious and use a spatula but truth is I’m too lazy to do so and prefer to dip my fingers in..if its any consolation to the clean-lovers out there, I do use clean hands 😉

The cream is a pearly white and quite light-weight. Initially, I used to use a nice dollop on my face which resulted in my skin getting kinda sweaty. Then I switched to using a tiny bit and Voila! No greasiness! So, every skin type would need to gauge the quantity needed accordingly.

Now for the effects..I use this along with the L’oreal YC Serum. I use the serum and about 5mins later I use the cream. I admit that alot of the time I skip this after the serum but ever since I’ve been homebound (about 3mts) I’ve been using this more regularly. I’ve noticed that my skin looks brighter after using this but without the serum, the effect is temporary and lasts for just 3hrs or so. When used along with the serum, the glow lasts for about 6hrs easily.

I do like this cream…but I’d have liked it better had it been useful if used alone. The fact that I necessarily need the serum to prolong the effects puts a damper on it.L’Oreal Youth Code Luminize Moisturizing Day Cream Review+ loreal youth code day cream swatch

What I like about L’Oreal Youth Code Luminize Moisturizing Day Cream

  • Does brighten the skin (albeit not for long on its own)
  • Moisturizes well
  • Works very well in tandem with the serum
  • One tub will last about 6 to 7 months.

What I don’t like about L’Oreal Youth Code Luminize Moisturizing Day Cream

  • Will not suit extremely oily skin
  • Doesn’t have a prolonged effect when used alone
  • Has parabens
  • Pricey

Rating: 4/5

  1. I picked up one and same prob, since I am oily it makes me look all greased up, any techniques that can work? I wanna use it, no money wastage, lol !! 😛

    • Well, this made me look greasy in d beginning but then I just reduced the quantity used…I now use a tiny bit and it works fine… Or maybe u cud use it as a massage cream…tk a bit, massage ur skin with it and then wipe off with a cotton pad..

        • U can also try topping it with loose powder Bhawna. It’l help keep oil at bay n make the cream hold on to ur skin longer. Works like a charm 🙂

          • I would like to try out this tip..thing is my skin feel on the normal side during the day but i always get up with a oily nose..may be that is because of the night creams which i use.

            • Oooh similiar problem. My face feels a lil dry after bath. In the evening, i find my T zone oily and i need to cleanse again.
I sometimes use lacto calamine at night; even if i dont use anything, my nose is oily in the morning 🙁
I am confused which day n night cream should i try now 🙁

                • Good Morning baby. Yeah i was caught up in work kal bhi. So I thought, il atleast write 1 review and send it to you.
Babes what do you use during day ? My thing is I would prefer using a BB cream but i need something to nourish my skin and not become like an oil pan. Bangalore is humid and I end up wid oiliness on my face after a few hours

                  • I use BB creams nly.. hav u tried maybelline BB cream stick? The formula is specifically better for oily skin..I personally like the tube wala more since my skin is more on the drier side but ive used the stick wala in summers and it does help keep th eoil at bay for longer..

                    • Hey Zee, GM 🙂 . Babes, BB sick has only 2 colors. One is light , other is dark for me. I will go and try again.
Yaar i will pick a BB from Maybellline or Rimmel foundi. Rimmel foundi is ultra light n apt for daily use.
But BB creams dont nourish the skin na, i need something like the serum that you reviewed ..for nourishment.

                    • None of the shades suit u? That’s a downer…y these companies don’t launch the full range of shades in India is a mystery to me!
I’ve found bb creams quite nourishing actually..except for this bb stick…I have dry skin na..so I prefer those bb creams which r more emollient..even garnier works for me without a prob…it’s just that. I feel mabeline one gives me more of a glow…

If u need the serum then wear it underneath n then apply the bb cream or foundi…would work..

  2. First of all, kudos to u for buying an entire range and persevering with it Zee  I wana b able to do that but am just so fickle n just keep wantin to try this n that from various ranges 😛 Anyways, lovely review as always. 🙂 Wont suit my oily skin for sure. Plus, am worries bout the high percentage of silicones :-/

    • m pretty fickle with makep n skincare too..but antiageing stuff i tend t stick wid..the prime reason being i guess that they tend to be the priciest of all my skincare items 😉 the parabens r a worry i guess..but honestly ive never bothered bout silicones n all..i prob shud but alas!

      • i think the serum is good for me to start with. Right Zee ? il use it below BB. This cream will pakka make me oily

        • Haan…for starters u can try using just the serum…but many people do prescie the use of the corresponding cream as well for optimal results…not that I follow that rule 😛

  3. I’m using the loreal luminize BB cream, did you try it?
I always used loreal skin care products (day & night cream) I like them but I feel there are lot of chemicals in there that make the product effective… and that is the reason I shifted to a more natural alterative that F.E but I’m not that happy with it… might shift back to Loreal….

Any recommendation for a good skin care products… Iäm close to 30 and have normal-combination skin 🙂

    • Well deepika, thing is I have never been bothered with the chemicals in skincare products…I had
Y ever read th ek gradient list..th wonky time I did was when I was preggi..but otherwise no..maybe I shud but I like trying out stuff a lot and never really think of wot it contains..

There’s a luminaire bb cream? I had no idea it even existed…never saw it anywhere either! Is it gud?

Well,I personally like neutrogena..Infact I plan to go back to it once my youth code products are over…a lot of people like okay too but I frankly neveroticed any change in my skin aft using them..have u tried Olay?

      • Yeap they have a BB cream its called code lumiere… it launched early this year I guess… will review it soon 🙂
I used a basic Olay cream when I ran out of my regular cream … dint find it very effective…. I might try out neutrogena.. thanks for the recommendation.
