Lotus Herbals Keraveda – Amlapura Shampoo Review

Dear all.. This review is on Lotus Herbals Keraveda – Amlapura shampoo.. I have been using this shampoo for more than 3 months now and thought this is the right time to review this product.

Personally I am always confused about my hair type and go mad while choosing a shampoo. I have been a Dove patron for years (both for shampoo & conditioner) and have only recently moved to dry new ones.

Lotus Amlapura shampoo is my first purchase after leaving the Dove hair-care range.

About the product:-

As the name goes – Amlapura – this shampoo is based out of Amla – Shikakai and also contains extracts of Reetha & Behra.

This impressive list of hair care products is what pushed to me buy the shampoo.

What the product claims:

This shampoo is for Normal to Oily hair.

Removes pollutants and impurities from scalp. Shikakai, Amla & Reetha are used for washing hair since ancient times. Triphla gives strength to the hair and helps stop hair fall. It maintains natural pH balance of the hair.

Active Ingredients:-

Shikakai (Concinna), Amla (Emblica Concinna), Reetha (Acacia Concinna) & Behra (Terminalia Belerica).

Packaging:

It comes like any other shampoo packaging, in a flip-open bottle. The flip top is strong enough to take during travel. The bottle is also a sleek oval making it easy to slid into any small place in the shelf or travel bag.

The packaging in pale yellow and olive green will definitely attract you to atleast have a look at it while at the counter.

  • Price: INR 155 for 220 ml.
  • Shelf life: 3 yrs.

The way I see this shampoo:

Till date I am not sure what type my hair is…I believe I have normal hair with an oily scalp!!??

Since this shampoo mentioned for Normal to Oily hair, I picked this up for trial.

The shampoo did remove dirt and oiliness pretty well, but the claim about hairfall is totally false. It just didn’t do anything about my hairfall, though being a herbal one.

I felt clean after every wash and hair felt manageable. But I felt the same way using Dove earlier too and I still continued to use Dove conditioner with this shampoo too. So I wouldn’t attribute that to this shampoo.

The shampoo lathers pretty well for a herbal one and the biggest issue with any Lotus products is that they do no mention total ingredients but only the active ones. So I am very much doubtful about the presence of SLS or SLES in this product.

Overall its an okie-dokie shampoo that will wash away impurities and give your scalp and hair a clean feel. The fragrance too is mild which would not bother sensitive ones and doesn’t last long too post wash.

Lotus should bring small packages of their shampoo range so that one doesn’t waste their money on big bottles for an average shampoo like this .

The ‘Yes’ factors:-

  • Hair-friendly herbal ingredients
  • Cleans scalp/hair well
  • Price

The ‘Nay’ factors:-

  • Complete list of ingredients not available
  • No smaller packages for trial purpose
  • No hairfall control

Ratings:-

  • Availability: 4/5
  • Price: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5
  • Product: 2.5/5

Will I repurchase: Never! I have moved to Fabindia Avocado range now J
