My experience with Maybelline ColorShow Lipstick Violet Vibe :
Packaging:Â The lipstick comes in a shiny black plastic packaging and the cap click shuts firmly. The packaging actually takes you to the days when usually all lipsticks had this black colored rectangular packaging, typical old school types.
The best feature of the packaging of this lipstick is the shiny colored band that shows the color family of the lipstick.
The color coded stickers at the bottom of the lipstick makes it easy to detect the color in your stash
Texture:Â The lipstick has a very soft, creamy and smooth texture. This shade has got some micro shimmers which are very obvious on lips, infact I would call them to be chunky. I could actually feel the glitter on my lips while application. The gritty glitter took away the lovable feel of a creamy lipstick.
Shade: It is a mauvish- violet shade with very obvious silver in it. The shade is pretty nice, not an intense purple shade and not a pure mauve, just the right shade and will suit most Indian skin tones. But the silver glitter that it has is not very likeable.
Pigmentation: This shade is not insanely pigmented, it has a semi opaque coverage but the color can be built up with 2-3 swipes so that is not a problem. The lippy does not bleed nor does it give a sticky feel to the lips. It is very light and layering does not bother my lips.
My Take: For a change I liked the shade, but somehow my hand swatch failed in capturing the real shade, but my lip swatch shows the exact color of the lippy. The color is a beautiful blend of purple and mauve, but the shimmer that this lipstick has is a reason why I detest using this lippy. It really turns me off.
The lippy really feels gritty on lips. Moreover the glitter has a tendency of spreading over, like areas around lips, cupids’ bow. Who would want a shimmer boundary around lips? Not me at least.
The texture is creamy but it could have been better if it did not have such gritty shimmer. On the pigmentation front the lipstick is decent with semi opaque coverage and hides pigmented lips.
The lippy is easily transferable and does not survive meals. The lippy stays for some 2-3 hours max and has a tendency to fade off unevenly. The most pathetic part is yet to come, when the lipstick fades off it leaves shimmer on lips.
What I Like About Maybelline ColorShow Lipstick Violet Vibe:
- Color coded stickers makes it easy to identify the color.
- Sturdy packaging.
- Does not dry lips.
- Does not bleed.
- Feels light on lips even after layering.
- Semi-opaque coverage.
What I Don’t Like About Maybelline ColorShow Lipstick Violet Vibe:
- Fades off Unevenly.
- Looks frosty.
- Has silver shimmer, which is gritty and affects the texture.
- Leaves behind shimmers on lips.
- Easily transfers.
Will I Recommend: No, there is nothing great about this lippy to be recommended.
