Maybelline Perfect Pastels LUX LILAC

My experience with Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Single Perfect Pastels Lux Lilac :

Packaging: Maybelline has kept the packaging simple, with a simple sleek black plastic case with a transparent flip open lid that shows the eye shadow and the sponge applicator. The packaging is very sleek, so much so that it slips in your bag sneakily without eating any extra space and is absolutely travel friendly.

Texture: The eyeshadow fares well on the texture front. It is soft and blends easily. It has got silver shimmers which do not appear to be chunky at all. The eyeshadow has some minor fall outs which can be ignored.

Shade: This is a pearly warm-toned lavender lilac shade that has a wee bit of silver shimmer which is very subtle and does not look gritty. Infact it is perfect to worn alone when you opt out of a dramatic look and choose to have a soft look.

Color Pay Off: The eyeshadow disappoints me here. It is sheer in a single swipe and requires multiple dabs to achieve opacity.

Applicator: The eyeshadow comes with a nice, velvety tapered tip sponge applicator. The applicator performs decently well, though I prefer using brushes more and would rarely approach this applicator. This is only my personal preference and there is no issue with the applicator.

My Take: I have mixed feelings for this eyeshadow. I don’t hate it but then I am no fan of it either.

The eye shadow scores well on its texture, sleek packaging and applicator and I love this shade too, but on the pigmentation front it looses totally. It takes in efforts to get the color built till opacity which I do not like.

Maybelline claims it to last whole day without fading or creasing and this is not true. I applied it with a primer and a concealor, and the eye shadow stayed for some 5-6 hours, it faded a bit too.

I would not expect a long wear eye shadow to last only for 6 hours with a proper base.

The eye shadow had some minor fall outs that does not bother me much since I blame the multiple layering for these fall outs.

  1. Too shiny for the entire lid, maybe i’l use it for inner corner or brow highlighting. Have you tried using it as a highlighter on cheek bones?

    • No.. it did not fare well as a brow bone highlighter… the purplish lilac tints persists.. i dnt thick using it on cheeks will do good
