Hey all beauty geeks!!! I remember those days when contouring was just becoming popular and everyone, including me, dreamt of chiseled cheekbones without losing weight. 😉 However, there was a heavy dearth of bronzers in Indian markets then. In my desperate attempts to pick up something resembling a bronzer, I used to buy dark blushes and then discard them as they would make my face muddy. So much so, that I gave up on contouring and a dream of having a slim face. 🙁
Well then, as luck would have it, we moved to US – the land of bronzers. And my long-lost dream suddenly kicked in and I started looking out for a bronzer. 🙂 I heard about NYC bronzer in Sunny on Emily Noel’s channel for the first time. And on further research, it did seem like a product worth trying for a newbie like me, without spending a lot of money. So, this is my first bronzer and is mainly responsible for hooking me on to the ‘bronzing’ rage. 😉

My take on NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny:
NYC Bronzer in Sunny comes only in one universal shade and seems to suit all skin tones in some way or the other. It is matte bronzer, which makes it already a winner with lot of people. The bronze is packaged as a pressed powder and has a sun-like design on the surface. The bronzer is a medium chocolaty brown with a very slight orange undertone. I was initially skeptical on seeing the color, but it does not appear orangey or muddy on my skin tone. The bronzer in Sunny is ideal for a day when you are not into perfect contouring. Since the color is not very dark, it does not give you a deep contouring effect. But I love it for a slight contoured look. Further, it does add warmth to the face if you are feeling a little too pale or colorless. The color does not look orange or red and you will certainly not look out of the place. The overall bronzing will add a little glow to the face without any shimmers.
Texture: True to its name, it is has a very smooth texture. Feels a little powdery when you get the product, but transforms into a skin-like finish without any fallout. Can be easily blended out as the bronzer is very finely milled.
Pigmentation: The bronzer has a medium pigmentation. Nor very light so that you have to pile on a lot and neither very strong so that you have to very careful while applying. The pigmentation is very buildable depending on the look you want.
Staying Power: The bronzer has a decent staying power of 5-6 hours.
Packaging: The packaging is pretty standard. It comes in a very sturdy but cheap-looking plastic compact with a mirror on the opening flap. It also contains a flimsy puff, which actually is just a sponge.
What I love about NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny:
- Universal color for all skin tones.
- Adds a warmth and glow without any sparkle.
- Perfect bronzing shade – not orangey or muddy.
- Matte texture.
- Can be used for slight contouring.
- Smooth texture.
- Natural finish.
- Does not look dry on the skin.
- Does not crumble at all.
- Decent staying power.
- Buildable pigmentation.
- Easy application.
- Blends smoothly.
- Very cheap.
- Sturdy packaging.
What I do not love about NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny:
- Unavailability in India.
- Will not show as a contour color on deep skin tones.
- I like my bronzers to be a bit darker.
Final Impression: NYC bronzer in Sunny is touted to be a dupe to Benefit Hoola bronzer, which is slightly cooler than this. Even if its not right, I still love to have this in my makeup collection. Though it is not my first choice for contouring, I still use it to add a bit of color when my foundation makes me look ashy or pale. If you are just stepping up on the bronzing brigade or are fair, it is an awesome product to have. Recommended!!!
