Today I have a review and swatches of a polish from the American brand called OPI. OPI Products is a nail lacquer manufacturer located in North Hollywood, California.
The Show Must Go On is from the OPI Burlesque Collection for Winter 2010. This was a collection of super-sparkly polishes for the holiday season. The blogosphere went gaga over the glitter half of the collection, but the multi-coloured glitters were too over-the-top for me. I just had my eyes on The Show Must Go On and Take The Stage. I didn’t buy the latter, and I regret my decision now.
Price: INR 670 at Nykaa
Colour: The Show Must Go On is dominantly hot pink, with a golden-orange duochrome. The duochrome effect is subtle, but it’s definitely there. It’s a colour that makes you want to keep looking at you nails.
Finish:Â The finish is difficult to describe. It has large shiny shimmer particles, which almost give it a metallic look. Though it’s very sparkly, there are no bumpy glitter particles, so the finish is smooth and even.
Pigmentation and Application:Â The OPI Pro-Wide brush makes application a breeze. The formula is thin and spreads evenly.
The swatches show three coats without topcoat. Non-polishaholics who aren’t obsessed with eliminating all traces of VNL (visible nail line), will get away with just two coats 😛
Drying Time:Â For some strange reason, The Show Must Go On takes longer to dry than I’m used to with OPI polishes. It’s best to wait for a while between applying coats.
Removal:Â Since it’s not a typical glitter, removal is fairly easy. The only problem is that you may end up with shimmer particles on the skin surrounding your nail. You can avoid this by swiping the remover cotton ball/pad only from base to tip repeatedly, instead of back-and-forth.
Staying Power:Â I only noticed minimal tip wear after five days. This polish is ridiculously durable. Very impressive, OPI!

- Metallic foil finish
- Easy application
- Pro-Wide brush

What I don’t like about OPI The Show Must Go On:
- Long drying time
