Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes Review & Swatches

Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes – A Probable Dupe for four Mac Shadows

Hey all beauty geeks!!! Don’t we all pay more attention to products when they are the ‘supposed’ dupes of higher brands? In fact, isn’t that an awesome strategy to make dupes of the popular expensive brands! 🙂 Well, Physicians Formula for sure does not need such strategy. All of us are already fans of the awesome range of products the brand has. So, when I discovered that a particular quad has Mac dupes, I did not even think once. 😉 I do not own any of the alleged Mac shadows, but for those of you who have them should be able to attest the fact. So, let us dive into the review to know more about the product.

My take on Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes:

Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow comes in three shades – Classic Nudes, Canyon Classics and Quartz Quartet. It is very difficult to find good matte shades in drugstores. Normally, drugstore brands have shimmery or satiny eye shadows. So, four matte shades at an awesome price point already makes the quad a winner. 🙂 Classic Nudes has the perfect neutrals required for any eye makeup. This quad and a different lid color each time will give you the perfect eye look. The quad looks good on just its own as well.

The eye shades are neutrals and majorly, varying shades of brown:

  • Shade 1: A matte off-white shade. It is a perfect highlight and an overall lid color.
  • Shade 2: A medium brown with orange undertones. I love it as a transition color for all the eye looks.
  • Shade 3: A very pale brown with cool undertones.
  • Shade 4: A medium chocolate brown. Great for deepening the crease.

Dupe Alert (discovered from the you tube channels):

Shade 1 dupe for: Mac Blanc Type

Shade 2 dupe for: Mac Saddle

Shade 3 dupe for: Mac Kid

Shade 4 dupe for: Mac Swiss Chocolate ( little lighter than Swiss Chocolate)

Texture: The eye shadows are really buttery and smooth. They also blend well. But they are too powdery. It seems like I am in the mid of a desert storm. 😉 There is a fall out as well.

Pigmentation: The shades are absolutely gorgeous. But you need too much of them. The quad is weak in pigmentation.

Staying Power: Average staying power of 3-4 hours. Extends with a primer underneath.

Packaging: The eye shadows come in a silver colored quad with a see through lid. It has an eye applicator and a small mirror on the side.

What I like about Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes:

  • Perfect neutrals.
  • Dupes of Mac shadows.
  • Extremely soft to touch.
  • Easily blendable.
  • All matte shades.
  • Average staying power.
  • Affordable.
  • Sturdy packaging.

What I do not like about Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes:

  • Weakly pigmented.
  • Extremely powdery.
  • May not show up on pigmented lids or deeper skin tones.
  • Major fallout.
  • Unavailability in India

Final Impression: Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes is an average palette. I really want to love the palette for all matte shades at an affordable price. Since I do not have the above mentioned Mac shadows, so I am not sure on the dupe part. But looking around for the swatches, I do feel they are really close to the said Mac eye shadows. Even if they are not, the eye shadows in the quad are essential neutral shades to have. However, the weak pigmentation and the powdery texture makes me little sad. If you are ok with working with less pigmented shades and powdery eye shadows, you can give this quad a try. At the price point, it is still a good neutral, matte quad to have. Recommended!!!
