Simple Facial Exercises To Delay Ageing Signs

Just as physical exercise is necessary to keep your body healthy and toned, facial exercises also play an important role in keeping the facial muscles look their best. Face yoga is the beauty trend today which helps in smoothening wrinkles & firm jawlines in a natural way. Facial building promotes the production of new cells, strengthens and lifts them & stimulates blood circulation. It diminishes fine lines & tightens the skin. We take a look at the following simple exercises to delay the signs of ageing.

The Giraffe:

This is a very common facial exercise which targets lines & loose skin on the neck. Tilt the head backwards while stroking the neck. Bring the head down. Repeat twice, then jut lower lip, place fingers on collarbone and point chin upwards, pulling corners of mouth down. Hold for four deep breaths

Flex Your Brow:

This helps in smoothening the horizontal forehead lines. Place both hands on the forehead facing inwards and spread all of the fingers out between the eyebrows and hairline. Gently sweep the fingers outwards across the forehead, applying light pressure to tighten the skin. Relax and repeat 10 times.

The Eye Muscle Exercise:

This is one of the easiest exercises to strengthen your eye muscles. Place two fingers at the corner of your eyes. Shut your eyes tight. Open. Repeat 10 times.

For Your Jawline:

Platysma is the muscle that connects your jawline to your shoulders; loosening of which leads to double chin and sagging skin on neck. Try this exercise to tone the neck, chin and jaw area. Stand or sit straight, and tilt your head back as if looking at the ceiling. Hold your head still. Now touch your tongue to the roof of the mouth. You will feel a slight tingling pain in your neck because of the contraction of muscles. Now let go, and bring your chin down to your neck region. Repeat exercise in sets of five, holding your tongue for about 25-30 seconds.

The V:

jawline exerciseThis will help drooping eyelids, crow’s feet, eye bags and puffiness. Make a ‘V’ sign by positioning fingers at each end of the eyebrows and create a powerful squint. Relax and repeat six more times. Finish by squeezing eyes shut for ten seconds. Relax

Cheek Firming Exercise:

This cheek-firming exercise strengthens cheek muscles. Simply take a big breath through your mouth and hold it so your cheeks are puffed out. After a few seconds, release the breath. Repeat.

Smooth Your Forehead:

This exercise aims at reducing the wrinkles on your forehead by relaxing the forehead muscles. Make a fist with both hands. Place the middle and index finger knuckles in the center of your forehead and apply firm pressure. Maintain the pressure as you slowly slide your fists out to each side. End by gently pressing your knuckles into your temples. Repeat four more times.

The Face Lift:

This helps in smoothening the smile lines and lift up the eyes and cheeks. Place both palms on your temples. Push your hands up and back, lifting the sides of your face. Open your mouth and make an O shape. Drop your jaw to make your face as long as possible. Hold this pose for five seconds. Repeat two more times.

Circle the eyes:

Place index fingers at the edge of eyebrows. Tap gently round eyes following the arc of the eyebrows and continue under the eyes. Repeat the opposite way. Stroke outwards under the eyes from the nose four times.
