Hi All,

I first spotted lipstick is pencil form when Lakme came up with them. I ‘d picked up 2-3 at the time but then all shades were matte and didn’t look good on me. Moreover, all the shades in Lakme were dark and I wanted some lighter everyday shades. Hence started my search…I saw some Clinique ones on some blogs but then I don’t think they’re available here…Plus, they were really pricey online so I resumed my search. I saw these in a youtube video and loved the colors. So after a short search I got a pretty good deal and picked up these 3 Stila Lip Glaze Sticks along with a free sharpener from Ebay πŸ™‚

My experience with Stila Lip Glaze Sticks:-

  • Packaging: These lip glazes come in pencil form with a transparent lid. I find this lid quite flimsy though and easy to shatter….These pencils also need to be sharpened and are not retractable. I got the sharpener free with 3 of these..Yey!! πŸ˜‰
  • Colors: Plum is a sheer plummy shade and a little bit like Capricious. On my lips it looks a bit more brown with plum(Check out best of Plum Blushes here) undertones. Fruit Punch is a Plum-pink shade with blue undertones. It has tiny pink shimmers and is a medium coverage lippy. Orange is my fav and an out an out orange shade. Thank god it’s sheer or else I’d never be able to pick up the guts to use it!

  • Price: $5.88 each
  • Coverage & Pigmentation: Plum is a minimal coverage kinda lippy but Orange and Fruit Punch both provide medium coverage. It covers up minor pigmentation as well. Of all 3, Plum is the only only which I need to swipe 3-4 times to get sufficiently visible color on my lips. . The others glide like butter while spreading the gorgeous color on their way.

  • Texture: The lip glaze sticks are all like gloss in a pencil form. It’s like applying a jelly on my lips in fact.
  • Staying Power: These behave like typical glosses(Check out NYX mood lip glosses)  and don’t stay longer than 2.5hrs on my lips. Orange however, by virtue of bring such a bright shade stays for longer and leave a nice coral tint behind.

I had been craving these pencil lipsticks and I’m glad I bought these. Of the 3, I probably wudn’t repurchase Plum. The color is so similar to my actual lip color that it isn’t even visible. Orange is definitely my fav and I’d love to have this sort of a sheer orange coral in my stash always!

What I don’t like about Stila Lip Glaze Sticks:

  • I hate that I have to sharpen it πŸ™

  2. wowwwwwwwwiieeee…Zee! 5.88$ matlab 300 INR each?? or for 3??? Love the orange one… :lipstick: :inlove:

One shud really learn how to shop on ebay from U?? πŸ˜€ :hug-makeup:

  3. I love the Orange one! Orange color is my weakness, actually I love all the bright shades! this looks so amazing! Zee u always bring up something to surprize me :O. I never knew such glossy pencils even exist.

    • i dint kno either Shivi..until i happened to see the clinique ones online! i wish we had more such stuff in India…Did u try d Lakme lip artists? i found then really really drying..

      • I had only one lipstick from Lakme when I was in 12th standard, twas a pretty shade but was too drying. Uske baad se, never bought any Lakme product only. Then my mom gifted me(took me shopping) in 4th yr college and I bought Chambor. Lakme is like an alien brand to me! πŸ™

        • At least u had lipstick in the 12th. I asked for one and my mother said “polish your brains and not youre lips!!!” and that was the end of my desire for makeup!!!

          • I got one coz it was my cousin’s wedding and I begged her to buy one for me. I started wearing makeup after college when my mom noticed I need some help. She only took me for makeup shopping :). In college, when my roomie tried to apply kajal on my eyes, I used to get so scared as if the kajal is going to hurt me a lot. My mom pestered me to learn something, because I was such a dodo. now also i am no good but atleast I know its a blush not a rouge πŸ˜›

              • seriously, some say apply blush to cheeks, some say dont! its damn confusing and now I feel we should all use our own common sense too rather than blindly following a trend! I am nowadays leaning towards eye makeup! have to learn and try so much!

                • exactly…diff methods suit diff ppl…like i hate applying brighter blushes on the apples on my cheeks..they make my face luk rounder…so i apply on the sides..but so many girls luk equally nice when they apply on the apples..its all about finding wot suits u best..

        • whoa! after 12th, directly in 4th yr?? i luved lippies! i used to buy Oriflame visions ones…my moms loved me to doll up since i was more of a tom boy..so anything girlish i wud ask for she wud buy for me without 1 word! πŸ˜‰

          • lucky girl! neither me or my mommy was much into makeup! But then we noticed that the girls my age were so dolled up! And the day I have started using some makeup, we have seen the difference. She is supportive now but she stresses a lot on brands. Even I have that feeling, I will survive with 1 lippie but it has to be of good brand. Not Chanel obviously but some decent brand atleast

            • that i agree on…i actually dont mind trying out brands but some simple things shud b there…like ingredient list n all..and i dont like copy cat packaging wale products…

  4. sooooooo lovely

i luv thhis product too..who wud have ever thought of applying lipstick in form of a pencil! πŸ™‚

      • Yes please do, and also kaunse shade ko kitna use karna chahiye…i look like a bafoon when i apply a few shades .. :footmouth:

        • then u must be applying too much in one go….start slow…start with a tiny amount and blend…after that if u still feel u need more color use a little more and keep at it till ur satisfied..once u do this 5-6 times ul get a hang of it πŸ™‚

        • I’ll tell you the secret to the perfect blush mitra …………….just PINCH your cheeks a couple of times….khalasssss. Cheapest and most naturelle…

          • OMG! Hail christinaa people! Whr do u get all dis simple yet fab ideas from chris??? 😯 :-* πŸ˜‰ :dance-left-right: :hug-makeup: :lipstick:

            • I tried it all erica….If I want something from the husband….I wash my face and pinch my cheeks and look all like golu rolu and pink pink….it always works for me….also after a hot bath u should try it. come out and pinch ure cheeks and sit in front of the husband…u will get anything u like…..u keep this in mind when u get married !!!

I was always inventing things cause I never had them when I needed them,…so I made my own cosmetics also. I would wet the colour pencil tip and get lovely eyeliners and lip liners from that !!!

          • I used t do dat and bruise myself…I bruise easily tho..but that’s a diff story.. πŸ™ I even tried slapping my cheeks πŸ™ then I figured blush was simpler and less painful πŸ˜‰

    • yea…its a very wearable orange…one of the very few such oranges in fact πŸ™‚ and thanx for liking the swatches heena πŸ™‚
