The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Shower Gel
Hello, all you beautiful ladies!
You might have read my last review post on the body shop Ginger Sparkle body butter, which i loved so dearly! Today I am back with a post on the Ginger Sparkle shower gel! If you remember, I was bedazzled by the fragrance of the butter, now let’s see what the shower gel has in store for us!

My Experience with The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Shower Gel
Packaging- If you read my last post, you know that it came to me snugly fit in a cute hut shaped Back-to-school Christmas edition box which had cranberries and ginger-bread man carved on it! Real, cuteness!
So coming to the actual product packaging, the shower gel comes in a cute plastic bottle with a nozzle cap which has a screw lid for the product outlet. The bottle is transparent, and has this really adorable ginger bread man smiling back at us. The cap shuts tight, but is a little prone to breakage.
I mean the small area which connects the cap to the screw lid, is really soft, and broke the first time I tried opening it (with a bit of pressure, of course). Other than that the cap fits in tightly and there is no chance of leakage.
I would not comment on it being travel friendly, as I do not travel with my shower gels. 😛
Jokes apart! If you are packing this with you for a trip, I believe that it will behave and not create a gloopy mess in your packed vanity!
Fragrance- Going in sync with the Christmas theme, the Body Shop launched the limited edition Ginger Sparkle range—and man, oh man—were the fragrances launched spell bounding! Just like the body butter, the shower gel has a zesty, rather comforting, and a warm ginger-y fragrance to it which pleases the senses nonetheless! The fragrance does not linger for very long though, but the time for which it stays is a sheer treat for your nasal buds!
Product Color- Coming to the shade of the shower gel, it comes in this slightly-levelling-towards-pale-yellow kind of color! Basically, it seems colorless when taken out of the bottle, but in the bottle it appears to have a bright mustard-pale-yellow kind of a color to it.
Texture- Like most shower gels from the house of The Body Shop, the Ginger sparkle shower gel is neither too thick nor too runny in consistency. It works perfectly well with the loofah that comes in the Back-to-school Christmas edition set! It lathers quite well and leaves an amazing lingering sensation!
Just what I need on a cold winter morning!
My Take- I am the kind of person who wouldn’t use a product if it repels me on the first look—and same was the case with both the Ginger sparkle butter and shower gel. The fragrance did not appease me initially, and once when i tried using the shower gel as a face wash (silly me), I got this really horrible bitter taste in my mouth (even when i used it to lather my face with tightly pursed lips).
But with time things changed, and i started to realize that it was an amazing product, and apart from the indecent soapy taste which it leaves behind in my mouth, it works pretty well for the rest of my body. No, I did not see any miraculous transformations in my skin while using this, but it indeed is a good every-day winter shower gel.
What I like about The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Shower Gel?
- Cute packaging
- Exclusive smell
- The fragrance can be layered using the body butter along with the shower gel
- Lathers really well
- Leaves a lingering sensation
- Has an appeasing, comforting warm feel to it
What I do not like about The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Shower Gel?
- I find it a bit expensive for the quantity, given that it does not do anything miraculous for the skin
- Yet again, some may have a love-hate relationship with the fragrance
Will I Recommend?- For the fragrance and that cute ginger bread man, I would definitely recommend this! But if you are in the lookout for a shower gel that does wonders for your skin texture, there are better alternatives which you can get at this price! ☺
