The Body Shop Shimmer cubes #06

I’m not a huge fan of eye shadows, I mean I do love eye makeup but personally I feel it doesn’t look flattering on me. But I still keep practicing my eye makeup to master and I experiment with different colors and textured eye shadows like shimmery and matte ones.

Body shop shimmer cubes was one of my first eye shadow palettethat I possessed. Since I’m a beginner at eye makeup I decided to choose neutral colors i.e the #06 palette which is mix of warm toned brown colors. Also I feel brown eye shadows look great on tan skin.

The palette consists of four colors packed in separate plastics cubes fitted into a larger plastic cube.

Sounds very appetizing isn’t it. All shades are gorgeous but Choco chip is my least favorite, it can look muddy so need to be careful while applying it. My absolute favorite is Honeycomb, I tend to use it more often than the other three. I apply it on my eye lids. Marshmallow is also my favorite but more as a highlighter. Yeap you can use it as a highlighter, I like to contour my nose and cheekbones. When applied to the tear duct area it instantly brightens up the eye. So I mainly used marshmallow shade for highlighting and brightening up the eye. Dark chocolate is a great shade to add depth to the eyes, I use it to create the outer V shape and it gives a nice smokey look.

I tried to put together a look on my friend. Please bear in mind, I’m just a beginner.

I applied honey comb on the lid, Choco chips on the crease, dark chocolate on the outer V and marshmallow on the inner corner (tear duct).

Texture – There are extremely soft and not too glittery, they have nice shimmer that is not OTT.

Color Payoff – They are quite pigmented, when used wet they are intensely pigmented. The staying power is also good, no fallout as well.

Cost – $22/-

Quantity – Each shadow contains 4g of product and has a shelf life of 3 years! The quantity is a lot for the price you pay so it’s a huge bargain. Plus neutral colors are never out of trend!

This palette is all and all shimmer palette with no matte shades, and this is the only downside of this palette. Shimmery eye shadows make eyes pop and make them appear bigger. At the same time it can accentuate the puffy look of eyes, so in case you have puffy eyes you should try and avoid applying shimmery shades into the crease. I personally have slightly puffy eyes and I use them just on the eye lids avoiding the crease area. I use it along with my matte chocolate palette by Isadora on the crease area and it works great. I think the combination of matte and shimmery shades work best for puffy eyes or even hooded eyes. So if you have puffy eyes or hooded eyes I would recommend testing this palette in the stores before buying it.

All and all it’s a nice warm tone palette, great for warm skin toned. I would recommend this but try it in stores before you buy if you have puffy or hooded eyes.
