When my husband and I decided to start trying to have children, our doctor gave us 5 best ways to get pregnant. So, with a clean bill of help and our physicians blessing, three months later, we hit the jackpot! I truly believe his suggestions helped steer us in the right direction and we have a sweet baby boy today to prove it!
1)Have sex three times per week. Most women don’t ovulate at the same time each month and since ovulation can vary, it can make getting pregnant more difficult. Since sperm can live viably for 24 hours, having sex every other day pretty much guarantees that the sperm will meet the egg if there are no other medical problems.
2) After sex, wait 30 minutes. My doctor recommended this when we were trying to get pregnant because most women go straight to the restroom after sex. This doesn’t give the sperm enough time or “help†to find the egg. So wait a half an hour and try to lay with your hips in the air or propped up on pillows.
3) Reduce stress. It’s that simple and it has been proven time and time again that stress can prevent you from getting pregnant. So, relax! Have fun-when it’s time, it’ll happen.
4) Use an Ovulation Predictor. I actually used one of these and it was fairly simple. Similar to a pregnancy test, an ovulation predictor requires a small amount of urine during the time of the month that you should be ovulating. The test will give you a 24 hour window as to when you are the most fertile. Tests run right around $25 and can be found at most drug or grocery stores.
5) Keep a calendar. Most women don’t know when they are ovulating. The two weeks after your period ends are “prime timeâ€Â. So keep a close watch for this time to increase your chances of pregnancy.
