Updating Your Vanity Bag For Fall : Product Suggestions
Fall marks the transition from summer into winter. October-November in maximum places of India is such a time when it is neither too hot, neither too cold, yet high on humidity. Moreover, fall means season of festivals in India and one has to look perfect always.
So fall is here and it is time to update our vanity with must have fall products.
A plum/berry/ox-blood colored lipstick
Dark lips return every winter with an entirely new take on how it’s worn. In this season, I often feel like going vampy with this kind of shades. These lipsticks look great when worn in a matte finish with the rest of your makeup minimal. The luxurious feel which you get after wearing plum on your lips is out of the world. My suggestion would be MAC Rebel, Revlon Black Cherry, etc.
If the leaves can change colors, why can’t you change the colors of your eyeliners? Grant your black and brown eyeliners leaves and go for blues, violets, plum, forest green, burgundy and golden liners. I like Ink up Violet from The Body Shop, I pretty much like how this shade looks against my brown eyes. This looks gorgeous and makes my eyes pop. Based on the intensity it can be worn both during the day and night.
A fall apt Perfume
Once the sun starts to set early you need to switch your light, floral fragrances, fruiter summer fragrances for a more bold and woody or oriental fragrance. My favorite is YSL Opium. It is an oriental-spicy perfume. Introduced by Yves Saint Laurent in 1977, this delicious fragrance marries fruitful notes of plum, mandarin orange and other citruses with coriander and pepper, resulting in a sumptuous aroma that is perfect for all your winter evening endeavours. Its top notes are a mixture of fruit and spices, with mandarin orange, plum, clove, coriander and pepper, as well as bay leaf.
Its floral middle notes consist predominantly jasmine, rose and Lily of the Valley, in addition to carnation, cinnamon, peach and orris root. It is underlined by the sweet woody base note containing sandalwood, cedarwood, myrrh, opopanax, labdanum, benzoin and castoreum, in addition to amber, incense, musk, patchouli, tolu and vetiver.
A hand and foot cream:-
You may notice your hands, nails and feet starting to rebel when cold weather hits. My favorite is Soap and Glory Hand Food Hand Cream. It contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow. It is a raved product and deserves all the praises. It as a divine fragrance and leaves my hands feeling so soothed, soft, silky and smelling delicious. The formula sinks into skin quickly without leaving any sticky or greasy feelings. So it is totally apt for this season.
A gentle cleanser
A super gentle cleanser is all you need in this season. It should clean and moisture too. So my pick would be Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cotton Seed. As its name suggests it’s a gentle face wash, with foaming effect that washes the face squeaky clean in no time. The texture is very soft almost like a cream. It also moisturisers the skin and hydrates it. After the wash I not only feel clean but also soft and supply. It foams up very well with little water. The foam is not watery like soap but thick like a cream. Spreads very well on the face almost like a face mask.
A hair mask
Give your hair a little more love with a nourishing masque. I love L’Oreal hair masques and their Mythic Oil Hair Masque is my most favorite. It works to balance hair’s natural oil levels by targeting very dry ends to deliver intense nourishment. Hair is left feeling soft, supple and brilliantly shiny. The two main ingredients are Argan oil and Cottonseed Oil. Argan Oil is used for centuries by Moroccan women and is rich in Vitamin E and Omega 3 oils. It easily absorbs into the hair to deeply nourish and provide control. Cotton Seed Oil is naturally light in weight and adds nourishment and extreme softness to the hair with a weightless finish. You can also try the L’Oreal Nourishing Masque, the one that comes in a mauve colored tub.
A good Sunscreen
Just because the weather has become cooler doesn’t mean you can stop protecting your skin from the sun. It is still humid outside. So I need a sweat resistant and water resistant sunscreen. My favorite is Lotus Herbal Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50. It is a gel based sunscreen that’s so light that it almost vanishes from your skin and leaves a never before matte feel. The consistency is like transparent gel and it gets absorbed within a minute of application which is really good especially for oily skin. It is light weight, non greasy and doesn’t leave a white cast after application. It gives matte finish which means no more sweaty and shiny nose. You can also go for bamboo boat sunscreen, aroma magic sunscreens.
Light live in Oils
Hair needs extra nourishment in fall and winter. So replace your usual serum with a hair oil that smoothens the hair without giving you a drowned-rat look. My favorite is L’Oreal Mythic Oil. It smells really nice and softens without making my hair lose any volume. It tames fly aways and adds great shine to hair. I only need two pumps for my medium length hair. Best part is, my hair is moisturized yet doesn’t feel greasy at all.
