My Experience with Vana Vridhi Italian Bergamot Luxury Summer Shimmer Sunscreen
Packaging- Talking about the packaging, this is my first sunscreen which comes in a cough-syrup kind of bottle—if you know what I mean! The bottle, as I said is a deluxe sample, so I am not sure if the full size product varies from the sample bottle—the sample has a whopping 60 ml of product though—not bad Vana Vridhi! The bottle comes tightly wrapped in a clear plastic pack, and upon tearing it open, the clear bottle shines in all it’s beige-golden glory. The bottle has this golden stick-on packaging on the tube with all the product details mentioned on it.
The funny part about the packaging is that it has a plastic stopper on the mouth of the bottle which is visible once you open the screw-lid cap. It is clearly mentioned on the packaging that the stopper needs to be punctured before use, but the careless freak I am—I did not pay any head to the instructions and popped open the stopper out of the bottle. But fortunately, it did fit back snugly and I could avail proper use of the bottle without much wastage.
Texture- Now coming to the real product—all I have to say is I have fallen in love with it. The bottle as it is seemed really intriguing to me upon swatching it for the first time! The shimmers were so miniscule, not at all gritty or in-your-face kind of, but so zealously visible. The product has a thin, slightly runny consistency, and the shimmers do not feel abrasive on the skin at all. The color of the sunscreen may look too light on swatching the product, but when blended out well, it gives a nice sheen—basically it is not as highly tinted as it seems to be in the bottle. Given the thin consistency and the amazing blending-prowess, you would not need much product even if you decide to use it overall on your body. The formula seems really light weight and is supposedly non-greasy. This actually is a good thing for oily-skinned people like me.
Duh! Oily skin, why you no leave me alone? *sobs in the corner*
Fragrance- Admittedly it has a slight fragrance which may seem to be too strong to some on the first whiff—but it disappears while application somehow! Now, that’s what I call a miracle! :p
I am ok with products with fragrance, but the problem with this sunscreen is that it does not have a particularly appeasing smells—it smells rather chemically—which I somehow do not tend to like. But as it goes away within a few seconds, I am cool with it.
My Take- Now that the fact, that this sunscreen is super light weight and would not cake up on your skin, is clear—I might add on that it applies beautifully. The best way to apply is with clean fingertips I would say. Yes, you can even use a wet makeup sponge like a beauty blender to seamlessly blend it in—but, I personally use my hands to spread it evenly.
I prefer using this on all the visible parts of body like hands, arms, collar bones, cleavage and neck—and if I am wearing a dress, then preferably my calves and legs too! Almost every part of my body whioch my outfit cannot cover up, excluding my face—as I do not like a full-shimmer-face kind of look. Though as a highlighter, this product does some seriously spectacular things—attracting light on all the right parts due to its gorgeous shimmer content.
Given the lightweight and runny-shimmery consistency, the sunscreen is apt for both day and night-outs—just make sure you are not going to get clicked at night if you are wearing this as the SPF in the sunscreen would counter-attack the flash and the photos will not turn out to be too-mesmerizing.
