Vichy Capital Soliel SPF 50+ Sunscreen Review

Vichy Capital Soliel SPF 50+ Sunscreen Review

Hi All,

I got this from Healthkart about 2 months back. I had never used Vichy products before this and had only read about them here and kept wondering when I’d get to try them out. Hence, when Healthkart announced a 30% off on all Vichy products I took this as an opportunity to try their products.

Vichy Capital Soleil Sunscreen 50+

I have extremely sensitive skin and get horrible sunburn if exposed to the sun for long. So I’m always on the lookout for a good sunscreen and when i saw this sunscreen up on sale I decided to try it out..

About Vichy Capital Soliel SPF 50+ Sunscreen:

  • Packaging รขโ‚ฌโ€œ This comes in a tube form with a flip top lid in orange color. The entire packaging looks very fresh and summery. The lid is also a very sturdy one and is very safe during travel ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Color & Texture รขโ‚ฌโ€œ The cream is a stark white color a bit on the thicker side. However it’s not too heavy at all and is absorbed quite easily by my skin. It’s easy to massage it in and doesn’t require rubbing it in for long like a lot of other sunscreens I’ve used ๐Ÿ™‚ Its also quite moisturizing and when I use this I dont have to use a moisturizer separately like I normally do.

  • Fragrance รขโ‚ฌโ€œ This cream has a mild floral scent which is quite pleasant and fades quickly. So there’s no danger of it irritating anyone’s noses.

My Verdict:

In just 2mts I’ve come to be very fond of this sunscreen. I usually have a problem with most sunscreens. I.e they either clog my pores and make me sweat crazily, or are too greasy or take a long time to sink in or require me to use a moisturizer to be applied beforehand.

This one just seems very thick when I squeeze it out, but its so easy to spread and gets absorbed so easily and it moisturizes so well. Its one of the best sunscreens I’ve used so far and I’d definitely recommend this to those with sensitive skin like mine prone to reactions and burns. I have hardly tanned ever since using this sunscreen which deserves a hats off ๐Ÿ˜‰ Especially I tan quite easily..

Pros of Vichy Capital Soliel SPF 50+ Sunscreen:

  • Works well for sensitive skin and keeps the skin very well moisturized and hydrated
  • Attractive packaging which is travel friendly
  • Paraben Free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Protects the skin from tanning effectively.
  • Non Greasy
  • Pleasant fragrance.

Cons of Vichy Capital Soliel SPF 50+ Sunscreen:

  • Pretty pricey for 50ml of product
  • I haven’t seen it in any shops here. So I would have to rely on online shopping for this.

  1. You founf the sunscreen that works. YAY!!.
Good it works for you. I agree with you on all the points. but..

On me it leaves this weird glow. Its not white cast. Its like too much illumination in my sunscreen ๐Ÿ˜›
It goes away in a while but it makes my face oilier than some other creams.
I am using this on my hands, which always tan horribly. It is doing great work there. SO its effective but not for my face.

I am still little worried about the winter sunscreen. Cant find any I like. Neutrogena will not be moisturising enough in few days.

    • Hehe..true…its so hard t find a sunscreen that works well.

on me, this doesnt leave a white cast pe se…but yes..there is a bit of a glow….it didnt look oily on me either… i guess this is one of those products which works differently on diff ppl ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I havent tried vichy stuff before although my mom uses some of them. Think she has the sunscreen too.. will take it from her ๐Ÿ˜› somehow i prefer to take care of my skin using natural products.. If I have a tan I come home, mash a banana and apply it on tanned areas and its gone.. But for my face I do use a sunscreen.. The vlcc one :tap-dance:

    • haha…poor aunty…she’ll go hunting for her sunscreen and will wonder where its gone! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

i luv using natural stuff too but m so lazy re….u have no idea…if i get packaged mashed banana, ill get that also! ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha!

  3. Hey Zara … thanks for the review… just 2 questions – is this moisturising enough that I can skip the moisturiser and does it burn/sting a l’il when u apply. I use Neutrogena and have been happy with it but with upcoming winters, it isn’t that moisturing and when I used it with Lactocalamine once, it gave me a l’il burning sensation so was thinking of getting a different sunscreen for winters

    • Hey Forum..It doesn’t sting at all….and its definitely very creamy..but out of habit i use a moisturizer right in the beginning before applying sunscreen or anythin…so i dont have t use anythign after that except for my compact…

m allergic to lacto calamine too…i break out in rashes!

      • Am not sure if I’m allergic to lacto calamine or not but have experienced that I find it heavy / a l’il sweaty on my face after an hour or so wherein I barely sweat.
Another thing I feel the stinging sensation could also be ‘coz some part of my facial skin goes dry and sensitive quite often and any pdt. even the ones I have had a good experience with stings so get confused as to what works for me and what doesn’t.
We used to get get Vichy samples here in Bombay… I dunno if we get them still. If I can get that would prefer trying out the sample first

        • oh my! ur skin seems to b very dry…which moisturizer do u use? my skin also gets horrible dry in winters…i get all those white patches..urgh!!

Vichy gives samples? cool ya…if thats the case then u shud try them first and check if it suits u…..

          • actually to me my skin seems funny – sometimes it’s dry, sometimes normal… haven’t been able to understand it completely yet ๐Ÿ˜
I actually don’t bother using a moisturiser much… just use sunscreen followed with talc or lakme rose powder or MAC Select Sheer compact to give a normal non-oily look.
And if at all skin feels super-dry, then use any moisturising cream at hand, be it Body Shop Vit. E Illuminating Moisture cream or Green Leaf Aloe Vera gel or Johnson’s baby cream or actually any cream :-/
Vichy used to give samples when it was new in Bombay… I ain’t sure if it still continues to … will have to check… hope they do

  4. finding the right sunscreen is like finding the right guy!..either is not easy!good it works for you..i am happy with lotus matte 3 in 1

    • haha! wot a comparison….i shud tell my hubs this.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

i like the lotus one too..the fact that its tinted makes it all the better na?

  5. Nice review Zee….. Seems like a HG pdt! I started using sunscreen only after i started reading wiseshe ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Uske pehle never dreamt of using anything (except lactocalamine).. even in the chennai heat!!!! :duh: :duh: :sun: :sun:

    • aww thas Dangerous Mals..Those who don use sunscreen are definitely going to suffer from pigmentation problem later in life..i hope u r using it religiously.

    • really? in chennai heat u managed to do widout sunscreen? m amazed!

so many gals like lacto calamine….god knows y m allergic t it..

  6. I bought the Lotus 3-n-1 SPF 40, used it for abt a month and lost interest..and now i put so many skincare items on my face that I am wondering if applying the sunscreen also will be too much. i am currently using the Ponds youth serum+oiil of Olay moiturizer+MAC prep+prime. this is before I even use my makeup..shud sunblock/sunscreen fit in there somewhere?

    • Well Appu, i think sunscreen is one of the most impt product to use…more than anything else infact..exposure to sun causes alot of pigmentation and harm which cannot be combated with moisturizer or serums alone…i wud definitely suggest goin back t using a sunscreen ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Nice review..Zara…I hardly use suncreens but this looks great to me after the your experience that it doesnt let you tan easily..

    • Hi Bharti,, i tooo have tried that and found pretty ok but then when i tried neutrogena one i found it better, have u tried both of them ?

  8. i do wish these were cheaper….wudnt burn such a big hole in my pcoket then…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

i haven’t seen any vichy counters…but then again i guess i havent been paying close attention either…also i always feel it better to order online since we have so many discounts at our disposal…wot do u think?

  9. Glad this worked for u zara. Ive been meaning to try Vichy Normaderm Triactiv for sumtime. Since its so pricey i wanna make sure its worth it b4 i grab it.
Ana, do u know if its any good?

    • Thanx Nafisa…

From the Normaderm range i hav tried the Promat matte effect hydrating care…m totally loving it but honestly find ti extremely pricey…but efect-wise its really gud…it can be used as a makeup base as well which is a huge plus point ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Anytime Ash…if u hav extremely ily skin then no…but if like me u have mild oily skin or just an oily Tzone then it shud be fine ๐Ÿ™‚

        • yeps..buthaan, its definitely worth a try…and if u get it for the winters..m sure it’ll last till extreme summers when u canbuy another one which will suit better in that weather..

  10. Congrats Z! Seems like you found your HG sunscreen!

I have never tried any Vichy products but have heard great things about their sunscreen range. I wonder how this would sunscreen behave on my very oily skin ?:-)

    • thanx Swats ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ this is my first vichy product actually…i was so worried while getting it thinking that if it dint work out it wud burn a huger hole in my pcket than normal :)) :)) but thnak god it works so well! ๐Ÿ˜‰
